Are you sure you want to quit so close to the end of the series? Don't you want to hang around with the rest of the sane people us and be astonished and amazed as the fandom eats itself in wankery after DH is released?
I've got good seats, and I've got popcorn. ~tempts~
Ah, I see that she's joking, which is a relief. Particularly considering that I do expect the fandom to shrink after DH. ;)
I will bring the drink - Coke or beer? I'm utterly enthralled by the notion of fandom eating itself.
Oooh, Coke for me, please. I've never developed a taste for beer.
I expect the cannibalization of the fandom to be huge. Perhaps not in our corner of it, since most people here aren't completely invested in a canon pairing, but elsewhere... Oh, yes. Huge. ;)
Does that make me a pervert?
Not a pervert! Someone who recognizes a train wreck when you see it. ~snicker~
April Fool's Day nearly killed me, last year. (Please see icon for my husband's response to my hysteria.) Did you see the notice that Metamuse posted at SH last year? It scared the POOP out of me. I thought the feds were closing down Ashwinder, my primary archive, and putting the admins in jail. LOL!
I've had some thoughts about the fandom shrinking. I don't think it will, even less so in our corner. Look at LOTR or Buffy - they haven't shrunk much at all. Also, I think the fact that Snermione has never even remotely been hoped to be canon will enable us to continue on for longer than any canon pairing, if only because we were entirely AU right from the start. Look at our corner: yes, a few authors have left or stopped writing, but more have joined. Then there's the fact that the corporates will milk the HP frenzy as much as they can, meaning they'll make sure HP will remain in the news at least until the last movie is shown, which will be a few years yet. So, my conclusion is that whilst a slow-down right after DH comes out is likely (and we've seen that already with at least OOTP and HBP), once people get over the shock of the seventh book, they'll start writing again. Of course, I always tend to be optimistic about stuff. :-)
...Huh? What WTFery is this? And whose head should I lash about with my cane? Well, virtually, anyway. Who's been a very naughty, naughty person? Or what wankery have I missed?

Date: 2007-04-02 03:17 am (UTC)No, of course not. I absolutely do want to hang around with ya'll and be part of it.
It's just, last year, I was utterly fooled on April 1st by Ashwinder's Cease and Desist Order posted, and ever since, I wanted to play a prank.
And since you're offering not only good seats but popcorn as well, how could I resist? :-)
