:o( Had to take my iPhone in to the Apple store last week to see one of their Geniuses (Genii?) as it wouldn't work in the dock we bought so's I could play music in the kitchen. And they were great, gave me a new one. Fingers crossed your Macbook is easy to fix and you don't lose anything.
