I actually did my master's about 5 years ago - this was a master class but more influenced by the techniques he learned in Japan under a lady who was attuned by Dr Hayashi. I did however get another attunement which was very nice.
Byosen is more than scanning and in Japanese as opposed to the western reiki tradition, it's central to the whole thing. Hands can be left in the same position for an hour where you measure the reaction of the body to the reiki - and there's a sort of scale from heat (level 1) through to pain (level 5).
We've been treating a stroke victim this way for the past week - and her mobility (after being told she'd never walk again) has increased miraculously. It's really been very thought provoking - made me rethink a lot of what I've learned about reiki in the past.
