New Orleans was absolutely awesome. So awesome, I'd love to move there. All the coffee-drinking culture, the colourful architecture, the balconies, the atmosphere in general, it's just incredible... I've posted some more about it over at the phoenix_sshg community and picspam will follow soonish.

Oh, and the sign-ups are open now for the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange Summer Exchange. I've signed up because my contribution for the Paintbrush and Quill Society is all done, and the exchange is just so much fun, and with two WIPs, I evidently don't have enough to do *snerk*.

Are you not coming to Phoenix Rising then? I think it'll be a fabulous experience.

Yes, they let everybody play! Oh, it would be such fun if you join in as well!!! *squee*

Thanks - I've just written my prompt suggestions!

As for PR, I'd love to go, but it's a money thing. I'd assumed hotels would be lots and I'd have to fly on top of it.

*squeeeee* You joined in! I'm so so so so looking forward to it!

Yeah *sigh*, it's a money thing. Hotels actually are less than I dreaded if you're not fussy about sharing rooms. The Sheraton is way out of my price range, but the Queen and Crescent offers two-double-bed rooms for about $89 a night. If you share, it's not bad at all.
Flying sucks, of course. I'd be happy to pick you up from Memphis as it's near me and I'll be driving down. Dunno if that helps, but I can try, LOL.

It feels so strange to be almost 40 and to have to watch money so closely. But then I knew going back to school in my 30s as a single woman would require sacrifices.

Your offer is so amazingly kind! Thank you so much. I'll look into it all some more and see what's possible.

Memphis is supposed to be great - it must be nice to live there!

I think, in general, money is highly overrated. ;-) Personally, I favour being happy over being materially rich. We've had many a dry time money-wise, mainly due to extensive traveling, but I wouldn't exchange the experience for anything.

I love Memphis. Don't know it well yet as we only moved here from the UK a few months ago, but I love the emphasis on music that Memphis offers all over. And flights to there are generally cheaper than to N.O.
