I am not sure I accept it as much as understand it is a force that is there and has to be reckoned with. LOL. I really don't let most of the negative aspects of fandom get to me. The times that I have it has depressed me. I don't want a hobby or pastime to become a bummer. Geah, the last time I let that happen was when the McSribe story at Journal Fen was being posted. I was not sure if I wanted to be in a fandom that allowed that much venom.
I have followed some of the recced fics there and at other digests that I have on my flist. You know, all any digest is only a recommendation by one person. If I don't care for how the story is evolving, I pass on it. I will say one thing that I have learned in reading most digests...in my heyday of writing fanfics I was no worse than most and a heck of a lot better than some of the writers out there. If nothing else, they are a confidence builder on days when I have none.
And as far as being recced..it happened once for a fic I wrote for a comm. It was the crappiest story I ever wrote. At least I thought so. But the mod thought it was wonderful and recced the damn thing. Actually, I was a bit embarrassed.

So much for taste, is all I thought.
