Squeefest Day 2 Evening and Day 3
The day continued with shopping, mostly to bedbathandbeyond and then

If you'd like to be cheesed out, read on. The wooden board in the centre of the pic: from left to right: mature manchego, port salut, brie (all bought cheeses). Open jar in front: feta (home-made). Wooden board to the right, from left to right: Very Immature Manchego (home-made) and Chilean Artisan cheese (bought), the name of which I've forgotten. Crackers, various salt jars, various water bottles, and computers also abound.

Manchego in the making: the curd is just starting to separate from the whey.

Cheesemaking, ghetto style: the cheese is beneath the pot of whey to press some more whey out.

The cheese after the initial pressing of approximately six pounds of weight.

pyjamapants was baking and awarded
voxangelus the lick of the whisk because she yelled loudest when PJ asked who loved her most.

I didn't help or yell, but oh, my, that dough was yummy!

pyjamapants looking deservedly accomplished and smug showing off her creation.

Chai cake. It. Was. Divine.
We all went to the chat last night and Imperioed a lot of chatters to drabble.
organic_chemist as usual did a splendid job of listing all the drabbles, which you can read here.

Cheesye Fondue

Artisan bread, celery sticks, cheese, good company... What more can one ask for?

"Now, now, cheese. You will comply!"

Stirring the cauldron...

Cheese fondue evidently wasn't enough, so we added chocolate fondue to the menu, which
voxangelus very skillfully prepared.

Chocolate-covered grape, strawberry, pretzel, apple, angel cake, pineapple, marshmallows, and short-bread.

Vox and SW69 chilling out on the sofa while...

... PJ had passed out from all the baking duties.
Then, there was a near-tearful good-bye to SW69 and Vox, and I won't think about tomorrow for now.

Looks like fun. Looks like I'd like to ditch good ol' (cough) Los Angeles and move somewhere more south-easternly.
no subject
Yes, I think you should move closer. LA is such shaky ground anyway.

Not the best thing to read at the airport whilst waiting for your flight :(
Sooooo much fun!!!

Glad you made it back okay. SW has got home safely, too.
Four days have NEVER been this short!

The cake and all the fondue looks very yummy. I have never had Chai cake before, but I believe I have the link to the recipe, so I think there may be some Chai cake in my near future. =o)
Btw, Saturday Night Chat was a blast, even if I never caught up to Vox, lol.

I absolutely recommend that chai cake! I'm not a cake person, and I loved it.
I think we all enjoyed Saturday night chat. I heard rumours that some continued until past 6am... I gave up around 4.30. :)
