Squeefest Day 2 Evening and Day 3

The day continued with shopping, mostly to bedbathandbeyond and then

If you'd like to be cheesed out, read on. The wooden board in the centre of the pic: from left to right: mature manchego, port salut, brie (all bought cheeses). Open jar in front: feta (home-made). Wooden board to the right, from left to right: Very Immature Manchego (home-made) and Chilean Artisan cheese (bought), the name of which I've forgotten. Crackers, various salt jars, various water bottles, and computers also abound.

Manchego in the making: the curd is just starting to separate from the whey.

Cheesemaking, ghetto style: the cheese is beneath the pot of whey to press some more whey out.

The cheese after the initial pressing of approximately six pounds of weight.

[livejournal.com profile] pyjamapants was baking and awarded [livejournal.com profile] voxangelus the lick of the whisk because she yelled loudest when PJ asked who loved her most.

I didn't help or yell, but oh, my, that dough was yummy!

[livejournal.com profile] pyjamapants looking deservedly accomplished and smug showing off her creation.

Chai cake. It. Was. Divine.

We all went to the chat last night and Imperioed a lot of chatters to drabble. [livejournal.com profile] organic_chemist as usual did a splendid job of listing all the drabbles, which you can read here.

Cheesye Fondue

Artisan bread, celery sticks, cheese, good company... What more can one ask for?

"Now, now, cheese. You will comply!"

Stirring the cauldron...

Cheese fondue evidently wasn't enough, so we added chocolate fondue to the menu, which [livejournal.com profile] voxangelus very skillfully prepared.

Chocolate-covered grape, strawberry, pretzel, apple, angel cake, pineapple, marshmallows, and short-bread.

Vox and SW69 chilling out on the sofa while...

... PJ had passed out from all the baking duties.

Then, there was a near-tearful good-bye to SW69 and Vox, and I won't think about tomorrow for now.

Ah you guys are so lucky.

Loves to you all, Sonia :)

I agree. And I'm all sad tonight. The apartment is soooooooo empty. :(

[identity profile] sunnythirty3.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, what a night. Middle Febr'y 2009
Everybody had a real good time
Cheese and fondue, what a sight!

:P

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, I like that! :P

[identity profile] miamadwyn.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, looks like a wonderful weekend!

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
It truly was. Much laughter, much cheese, much chocolate, fantastic company, what more can one ask for... Shame time flew by so fast, though. :(

[identity profile] kizzy7.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my, looks delicious! What a wonderful weekend!

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
It was. :) I don't remember an occasion when I constantly ate more than I should have...

[identity profile] kimberly-elf.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
The food and company look fabulous! You all seem to be having a wonderful time. ::cheers::

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
It was a great weekend! And I'm feeling all alone tonight, lol.

[identity profile] organic-chemist.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Looks like you had a smashing time! Thanks for sharing the pictures ...

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
We did. There is a universal need for a repeat, and maybe more will join us next time. *looks hopeful*

[identity profile] notsosaintly.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
So is Squeefest something you came up with yourself? (Am late on the uptake, gradually rediscovering the online world after two major RL projects.)

Looks like fun. Looks like I'd like to ditch good ol' (cough) Los Angeles and move somewhere more south-easternly.

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
I think it was [livejournal.com profile] hogwarts_91 who came up with the term when some of us met at her place in Austin in December, and we all liked it, so keep using it. :p

Yes, I think you should move closer. LA is such shaky ground anyway.

*SNIFFLE*

Not the best thing to read at the airport whilst waiting for your flight :(

Sooooo much fun!!!

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
I am one sad karelia tonight. :(

But it was great fun, and I'm so happy that you joined us!!!

[identity profile] hogwarts-91.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
There's just something so naughty about the sound of underage cheese. Is it wrong to be aroused by such terms?!

[identity profile] kittylefish.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
err - we determined, if loving underage cheese is wrong, we don't wanna be right ...

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
What do you mean "wrong"? If it's that good, it can't be wrong in the least! LOL

[identity profile] apisa-b.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmmmh... All those food looks really yummy.

And I thought I'd get to see the Pajama Pans with the flowers on the bottom.

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
I looked through my pics, and there is none. :(( Must Imperio her to come here again so I can take a pic of that!

[identity profile] abitofadork7.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel very hungry with all those food pics.

I'm glad you guys had such an awesome time. XD

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Funny, I didn't feel hungry at all today. I think I'm still stuffed from all the cheese and chocolate... LOL

[identity profile] abitofadork7.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
You must be. That WAS a lot of food...

[identity profile] pyjamapants.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Whew! Made it to Nashville... you ladies wore me out!

Who knew that laughing nearly constantly for 4 days could be so exhausting!

*hugs*

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
It was all the demands of the underage cheese I think, not us!

Glad you made it back okay. SW has got home safely, too.

Four days have NEVER been this short!

[identity profile] stefdarlin.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Awwww, lol, how can PJ sleep like that? It looks like y'all had a fabulous time. Thank you so much for more picspam, so those of us who couldn't attend could do some more living vicariously through you. Tee hee!

The cake and all the fondue looks very yummy. I have never had Chai cake before, but I believe I have the link to the recipe, so I think there may be some Chai cake in my near future. =o)

Btw, Saturday Night Chat was a blast, even if I never caught up to Vox, lol.

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
She might have posed and fooled me. With her, you never know. :P

I absolutely recommend that chai cake! I'm not a cake person, and I loved it.

I think we all enjoyed Saturday night chat. I heard rumours that some continued until past 6am... I gave up around 4.30. :)
