Lucius has taken over my taste buds. I'm just relieved he isn't in favour of meat. But srsly. Mozart? Wtf? Not The Magic Flute either, I could happily oblige, but no, it has to be the Requiem. I've never liked the Requiem! *pouts petulantly* I've coped with excessive earfuls of Sibelius, I've coped with purely pentatonic-scaled tango fusion, all upon his insistence, but Mozart's Requiem? *whines* Even listening to all four versions of Beethoven's 9th didn't convince Lucius otherwise. *glares daggers*

Fuck. It's growing on me. *glares some more* Not that the glaring helps. All he does is laugh at me. I'm behind with everything. Queue, betas, regular writing. And he laughs. *deep sigh*

That is all.

I tell you life is tough these days...

It's glorious, isn't it?

Listening to Mozart's Requiem is like listening to the voices of the Gods. We're not quite equipped to hear it all at once, and when we do, it's blinding. (deafening?) (whatever)

*giggles that Lucius has led Karelia to the MR

I knew he was good for something!

She's quite right, tune in to the voices, that's the key, then let the rest of the piece show itself in shades.

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! *cries* It is truly glorious!

Lucius is glorious, too, of course. *looks sheepish* No matter how much I complain about him, he truly. Is. Glorious.

I could feel sorry for you, but being forced to listen to glorious music isn't exactly a stint in Azkaban *G*

At least you get Lucius's taste. My muse wants Alternative Rock lately. And grunge. Lots of Nirvana around here lately.

Well, just tell Lucius that Mozart didn't really write the version of the Requiem that exists today- he died before it was out of skeletal form. We have his student, Herr Sussmayer, to thank for the slightly lopsided (but still wonderful) mass. If Lucius wants a Requiem with proper pedigree that lacks all the Catholic "reqiuem aeternam" nonsense and even shows proper respect for family, hook him up with the Brahms German Requiem! Biased? Moi? :D

You're right, of course.

I shudder at the thought of alternative rock, but knowing Lucius, he'll have a way of introducing that one, too. *shakes head*

I like Mozart's Requiem - Lucius has good taste ;D

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
I don't deny his good taste, srsly, I don't. I just kinda get upset at times when he insists on something I object to. Not that I win. Ever. But, wow, he's such an incredible addition to my family!

Can't help ya, babe - I like the requiem.

In fact, it'll start rattling through my noggin' at the strangest moments. It does, I should note, greatly help a painful meeting to have 'dies irae, dies illa' playing on brainradio. LOL

I've learned to love it over the past about 28 hours...

What boggles my mind, though, is Lucius The Muse taking over my musical tastes. Still, after a year and a half.

[identity profile] juniperus.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I go through odd changes when I'm writing different pieces - not so much taste change as a need to listen to a certain genre, artist, or song constantly.

Currently I'm stuck on industrial. I'm not writing, tho, I've been blocked... I wonder if this is prep for a muse that's just under the surface...

And if so - I can't begin to imagine what it'll be!

:D I went through a MR phase not quite a year ago (tried the Verdi, but Verdi just doesn't quite do it for me), followed by a whirlwind love affair with Brahms' Hungarian Dances (especially #5). LOL
