I found truffle butter at Fresh Market. Not sure what I'll make with it, but I'll find something. Also found challah, yay! Challah with butter and honey = <3.

I popped into the farmer's market on the way to FM and picked up tomatoes, green onions, broccoli, peaches, and onions, all allegedly picked early this morning.

Dorkboy volunteered to cook today. I'm having Thai curry with lots of green onion and a few shrimps. :D

Now, if today is the day I've been anticipating every day I woke up this week--the day the exchange piece is sent on its way--I'll be positively happy.

is this the market at the Agricenter?
I went to the one downtown last week and nothing but greens. I nwant some zucinis and tomatoes and such!

Yes, that's the one! They had plenty of zucchinis and tomatoes. Today, there were only four stalls, all with pretty similar produce, but the one I bought my veggies from said that every stall will be occupied on Saturdays. Which is a shame for me cuz I don't have the car Saturday mornings. *grumbles*

But yeah, they had a good choice of veggies that are in season. Plus there is a small garden center behind the market, and I found me some more herbs there. :D

Ohhh garden center? *Smiles*

Yes! I was quite impressed with their choice of herbs. But no heirloom tomatoes *pouts*

The butter and Challah sounded interesting enough, but what I really liked about this post is that you're listening to Gotan Project! I have some tangos by them and just LOVE them!

*opens iTunes*

hmmmm, yes, tango :D))

Lovely!! The first fanfic I ever read (which remains a favorite) was Tea with the Black Dragon - SS/OFC, and at one point he gives her tango lessons. After reading that, I downloaded about 4 hrs worth of tangos to my iTunes! I love Gotan Project, Tango Jointz, Lilo Shifrin, but a favorite tango is a fast one she mentions in the fic: Rattle and Burn by Jesse Cook. :D

OMG, that is absolutely awesome! Thanks for that!

I don't bother with our farm markets here until mid-june - nothing is ready yet apart from asparagus and rhubarb up here.

I suppose that sucks about being so far north. Mind you, I'd put up with that if it meant less heat than here. *sighs*

challah with butter and honey sounds scrummy. have you had grilled peaches? my sister made those one time, and they were amazing. not that i don't love 'em just normal, because i really, really do, but they were awesome that way.

I haven't, no! I've had grilled apricots with roquefort, though, which is awesome. *makes note to try out grilled peaches*

What is challah?

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2009-05-31 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
A thorough explanation of challah (http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-challah.htm). :D
