I've just grated eight large potatoes. Now my arm is shaking from exhaustion.

I love latkes. *nods* With applesauce.

That is all.

Come through the back door, it's open. Won't hear the bell cuz the music is loud. *grins*

Wow. Yum! Can I come too?

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Of course! You want applesauce or gefillte fish with it?

[identity profile] mad-queen-mab.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Er, applesauce. But only because my grandmother would kill me for eating someone else's gefillte fish.

*offers heating pad* Will it be homemade chunky applesauce? I'll dice the apples. :-)

Oh, thank you! That helps a lot!

Yes. Pretty much every meal in this home is homemade. Splendid of you to offer, thank you! I'll put up some sauerkraut as well. And I probably should grate a few more potatoes. Looks like a dinner party. :)

Sounds like a fun group!

I love these little snippets followed by "that is all."

Teehee.

So, are you coming over for dinner, too? We're a cheerful bunch tonight. *nods*

Okay color me stupid what are latkes? Are they anything like a potato pancake?

By the way isn't that what a food processor is for?

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
The very ones. But if you don't grate the potatoes by hand, the taste is very different, and I simply prefer the hand-made ones. Why don't you pop over and try them? We're having such fun! :)

[identity profile] voxangelus.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yum, yum, yum. And I thought tonight's corn chowder was good. I'd looove some latkes.

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
If you hurry, there are still a few left. :)

Ohhhhhhhh. I was peckish before I read your post. Now I am RAVENOUS!

Enjoy your latkes- I'm about to follow suit.

Latkes, YUM!! I'll be making those next week sometime. We are *still* trying to get rid of all our breads and yeasty things. I love latkes, matzoh balls, caramel matzoh crunch... but you can keep the gefilte fish!

[identity profile] melenka.livejournal.com 2008-04-21 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, so do I! I am grateful to my mother for gifting me a cuisinart. Now I have latkes whenever I'm in the mood. Served with apple sauce and sour cream, so folks can choose whichever suits them.

Oooooohhhhh, the author of my favourite original WIP is on LJ *iz excited*

I would love a cuisinart. But I still would grate the potatoes by hand, LOL. I don't know if it's fond memories of eons ago, when I was a child and allowed to help my grandma to peel the apples and potatoes, and because I loved grating the potatoes so much better than peeling them, the reward for peeling a potato or apple was that I was allowed to grate a potato. Or maybe they really do taste different if hand-grated. *shrugs*

I prefer them with apple sauce rather than sour cream. I also love them with sauerkraut (yeah, that would be another reason to get a cuisinart! Slicing cabbage is not enjoyable...). And in the days I ate fish with gefillte fish. All followed by lockshen pudding. *nods* And now I'm hungry. :)
