It's been another awesome, awesome day, which started early with the Granger/Snape meet-up.

[livejournal.com profile] ladyofthemasque with her wildly colourful hair, and NoGod1215 laughing with her on the other side of the table. She read an excerpt from a new SSHG fanfic she hasn't posted yet as well as an excerpt of her latest book, which is due out in September. It was a right treat!

Ladyofthemasque and [livejournal.com profile] madamsnape

[livejournal.com profile] shalimar1981 and [livejournal.com profile] soulbound8686

Cookies and chips and salsa were enjoyed by everyone. In about that order of consumption.

[livejournal.com profile] madamsnape doesn't believe a word by the looks of it. ;)

Now, let's see if I get this right: [livejournal.com profile] qui_quae_quod, [livejournal.com profile] pokeystar and [livejournal.com profile] themoreyouclean

[livejournal.com profile] dickgloucester watching the action

ZOMG! [livejournal.com profile] ginny_weasley31 and Shug!!! Meeting them was awesomesauce, srsly!

Jean Johnson, author extraordinaire

[livejournal.com profile] keladry_lupin and Shug

*squeeeee* [livejournal.com profile] deemichelle who designed the most awesomest Hundertwasser house for Severus and Hermione in an sshg_exchange for me!

*blushes* [livejournal.com profile] ariadne1, this one is for you. The lovely [livejournal.com profile] annietalbot, who's written some great fics, said a hug was in order and a pic. I was so in awe that she approached me that I promptly lost my speech. *is goofy* But I did try to smile, just for you! :)

Deemichelle and [livejournal.com profile] stupiddrawings (not sure I got that one right!), who was wearing the most impressive dress and hair style.

[livejournal.com profile] southernwitch69 and Narcissa Malfoy, who is much friendlier than I'd have thought!

Kyria of Delphi, who came to Dallas early this morning to spend the day with us. She also knows Dallas pretty well, and it was much easier with her directing me to the restaurant tonight than trying to follow [livejournal.com profile] rdholmantx who changed lanes seemingly haphazardly... :p

[livejournal.com profile] soulbound8686 trying to do the goofy expression.

A most wonderful day, all in all, and I'm almost sad to see the adventure coming to an end. I'm exhausted. I'm neither used to nor do I generally like socialising, but I've had the time of a life, and I will surely treasure those wonderful memories for many years to come.

There are some pics that didn't turn out well. I'll have to ask [livejournal.com profile] blue_paris to play around with them to make them sharper and will then post those as well. We also got to meet [livejournal.com profile] pern_dragon, who is absolutely lovely! We spent the afternoon at the Anatole, hanging out with and meeting quite a few people, who I've known by name or online for a while, and it was great.

Portus ends tomorrow and most people are leaving. We're staying another day to chill in the morning, then chill with [livejournal.com profile] rdholmantx in the afternoon, which possibly involves watching AR movies, then chill some more over dinner, hopefully with Amy Potterbrat. I've not managed to meet [livejournal.com profile] bambu345 *cries*, [livejournal.com profile] lariopefic, [livejournal.com profile] shellsnapeluver, or [livejournal.com profile] lulabelle72. I've heard rumours the latter three are staying tomorrow, too, and [livejournal.com profile] irishredlass69 let Lariope know that we're staying too, so maybe they'll join us some time tomorrow...

Beautiful pics!! Did Lotm get you or SW hooked on reading the Sons of Destiny series? Because you really should. Those books are awesome. I've been one of the lucky few to read all of them, so I know what I'm talking about.

I'm beginning to recognize people. I recognize shalimar quite easily now.

You know, I do have a really stupid question. All the Malfoys. Who are those people?

[identity profile] hogwartshoney.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
The Malfoys are the Malfoys from Boston! ;o) Persus and Draco.
WHERE are photos of you?????

[identity profile] notsosaintly.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
< == See the icon? I belong to the Not Going to Portus Club. *snort* And it's really sad, too. But on the other hand, we did sort of have a drabble party with lots and lots of margaritas and Sex on the Beaches and Tie Me to the Bedposts and posted the whole thing on TPP just to gloat at the Portus-goers.

[identity profile] hogwartshoney.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. You actually made me cackle like an old crone! *wipes away tears of mirth*

Okay, so you're not at Portus. What about Boston 2009? Leaky Con??

[identity profile] notsosaintly.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
2009 ... 2009 ... I heard 2009 was going to be a great year to see view the Blood-Sucking Bugbears. They come only to Boston, you know.

Actually, I have no idea. One of these days I'm going to attend one of them. If one happened in L.A., I would SO be there.

[identity profile] hogwartshoney.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Bugbears! True! I'd forgotten about them! Yet another reason to visit!

I think LA thinks it's too cool for Potter conventions ;o)

[identity profile] notsosaintly.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
More than likely people are too scared (and rightly so) of having it in L.A. Downtown is greatly overpriced, Hollywood is full of hookers, everywhere else is gang central. I mean where'd you have it? And the driving. Don't even get me started on the driving. *snort*

I know, someone should pick something cheap and neutral. I don't know, like Juneau, Alaska.

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Cheap and neutral. Like Memphis, TN. Cuz that's far more central and easier to get to than Alaska, yanno? *nods*

[identity profile] notsosaintly.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Ja, you just want it close to your house. I know. *nods* All the fun, none of the driving.

Neutral. LOLOL.

How about Maine? I always wanted to go to Maine.

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Well, my point is that Memphis is far more central than Alaska. Or Maine. I would drive to Maine. Hell, I'd probably drive to Alaska, too. But a lot of people would dismiss cons there because of the distance.

[identity profile] notsosaintly.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose Timbuktu is out of the question then....

*snort*

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Now, that would be interesting. Although, personally, I would favour Antarctica.

[identity profile] notsosaintly.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
You would.*lolol*

(Actually, I was going to suggest it, but I had a feeling you were going to for some odd reason.)

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
*snort* So I'm not only odd but also predictable, eh? LOL

[identity profile] notsosaintly.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
*snort*

Well, you could say "it takes one to know one", which would mean I too am odd and predictable.

Or predictably odd.

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
It does indeed! :))

Or oddly predictable, lol.

[identity profile] hogwartshoney.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Or someplace like the middle of the continental US. Say, Topeka, KS?

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I have her first book, but haven't got around to reading it.

The Malfoys are awesome. They're [livejournal.com profile] alabastard and [livejournal.com profile] alabastardragon and go to pretty much every HP convention as Lucius and Draco. I heard Draco sneer at a Gryffindor, it was priceless! LOL

[identity profile] notsosaintly.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well? What the heck are you waiting for? Let blue drive home, and you start reading. Der ist ein Auftrag! *lolol* (I hope she has her driver's license. If not, she could always read it aloud to you. *snort*

I have the first five. I've read all of them. Of course, I lent the first to a friend. If she doesn't give it back to me soon, I'll have to torch her house.

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
You know... I actually don't remember the last time I read for pleasure. LOL

I bought her first book when it came out, just to be supportive of a fellow fanfic writer, but I have about ten fiction books that are waiting to be read...

[identity profile] notsosaintly.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Believe me, this one is worth being at the top of your to-read list. And I'm not just saying that, being biased because I helped edit. It is a damn good story. Lots of plot that carries through all eight books. I can't wait till the last one comes out. I truly think it's her best.

[identity profile] lady-karelia.livejournal.com 2008-07-14 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
I believe you. I find her writing improved a lot between FSS and In Annulo, and she realises it, too. We talked about that yesterday morning.

I will get around to reading them one day, honestly.
