It's been another awesome, awesome day, which started early with the Granger/Snape meet-up.

[livejournal.com profile] ladyofthemasque with her wildly colourful hair, and NoGod1215 laughing with her on the other side of the table. She read an excerpt from a new SSHG fanfic she hasn't posted yet as well as an excerpt of her latest book, which is due out in September. It was a right treat!

[livejournal.com profile] shalimar1981 and [livejournal.com profile] soulbound8686

Cookies and chips and salsa were enjoyed by everyone. In about that order of consumption.

[livejournal.com profile] madamsnape doesn't believe a word by the looks of it. ;)

Now, let's see if I get this right: [livejournal.com profile] qui_quae_quod, [livejournal.com profile] pokeystar and [livejournal.com profile] themoreyouclean

[livejournal.com profile] dickgloucester watching the action

ZOMG! [livejournal.com profile] ginny_weasley31 and Shug!!! Meeting them was awesomesauce, srsly!

Jean Johnson, author extraordinaire

[livejournal.com profile] keladry_lupin and Shug

*squeeeee* [livejournal.com profile] deemichelle who designed the most awesomest Hundertwasser house for Severus and Hermione in an sshg_exchange for me!

*blushes* [livejournal.com profile] ariadne1, this one is for you. The lovely [livejournal.com profile] annietalbot, who's written some great fics, said a hug was in order and a pic. I was so in awe that she approached me that I promptly lost my speech. *is goofy* But I did try to smile, just for you! :)

Deemichelle and [livejournal.com profile] stupiddrawings (not sure I got that one right!), who was wearing the most impressive dress and hair style.

[livejournal.com profile] southernwitch69 and Narcissa Malfoy, who is much friendlier than I'd have thought!

Kyria of Delphi, who came to Dallas early this morning to spend the day with us. She also knows Dallas pretty well, and it was much easier with her directing me to the restaurant tonight than trying to follow [livejournal.com profile] rdholmantx who changed lanes seemingly haphazardly... :p

[livejournal.com profile] soulbound8686 trying to do the goofy expression.

A most wonderful day, all in all, and I'm almost sad to see the adventure coming to an end. I'm exhausted. I'm neither used to nor do I generally like socialising, but I've had the time of a life, and I will surely treasure those wonderful memories for many years to come.

There are some pics that didn't turn out well. I'll have to ask [livejournal.com profile] blue_paris to play around with them to make them sharper and will then post those as well. We also got to meet [livejournal.com profile] pern_dragon, who is absolutely lovely! We spent the afternoon at the Anatole, hanging out with and meeting quite a few people, who I've known by name or online for a while, and it was great.

Portus ends tomorrow and most people are leaving. We're staying another day to chill in the morning, then chill with [livejournal.com profile] rdholmantx in the afternoon, which possibly involves watching AR movies, then chill some more over dinner, hopefully with Amy Potterbrat. I've not managed to meet [livejournal.com profile] bambu345 *cries*, [livejournal.com profile] lariopefic, [livejournal.com profile] shellsnapeluver, or [livejournal.com profile] lulabelle72. I've heard rumours the latter three are staying tomorrow, too, and [livejournal.com profile] irishredlass69 let Lariope know that we're staying too, so maybe they'll join us some time tomorrow...

< == See the icon? I belong to the Not Going to Portus Club. *snort* And it's really sad, too. But on the other hand, we did sort of have a drabble party with lots and lots of margaritas and Sex on the Beaches and Tie Me to the Bedposts and posted the whole thing on TPP just to gloat at the Portus-goers.

LOL. You actually made me cackle like an old crone! *wipes away tears of mirth*

Okay, so you're not at Portus. What about Boston 2009? Leaky Con??

2009 ... 2009 ... I heard 2009 was going to be a great year to see view the Blood-Sucking Bugbears. They come only to Boston, you know.

Actually, I have no idea. One of these days I'm going to attend one of them. If one happened in L.A., I would SO be there.

Bugbears! True! I'd forgotten about them! Yet another reason to visit!

I think LA thinks it's too cool for Potter conventions ;o)

More than likely people are too scared (and rightly so) of having it in L.A. Downtown is greatly overpriced, Hollywood is full of hookers, everywhere else is gang central. I mean where'd you have it? And the driving. Don't even get me started on the driving. *snort*

I know, someone should pick something cheap and neutral. I don't know, like Juneau, Alaska.

Cheap and neutral. Like Memphis, TN. Cuz that's far more central and easier to get to than Alaska, yanno? *nods*

Ja, you just want it close to your house. I know. *nods* All the fun, none of the driving.

Neutral. LOLOL.

How about Maine? I always wanted to go to Maine.

Well, my point is that Memphis is far more central than Alaska. Or Maine. I would drive to Maine. Hell, I'd probably drive to Alaska, too. But a lot of people would dismiss cons there because of the distance.

I suppose Timbuktu is out of the question then....

Now, that would be interesting. Although, personally, I would favour Antarctica.

You would.*lolol*

(Actually, I was going to suggest it, but I had a feeling you were going to for some odd reason.)

Well, you could say "it takes one to know one", which would mean I too am odd and predictable.

Or predictably odd.

Or someplace like the middle of the continental US. Say, Topeka, KS?
