I have a dark secret.

I watch American Idol.

Not because I like the music, oh, no. Pop is not exactly the genre of my choice. No, it's because if there is a Severus Snape in real life, it has to be Simon Cowell. Although I imagine canon Snape to have a nicer build than him *snerk*.

Tonight, I thought he was pretty soft. He reckons that 3.5 contestants deserve to be in the top 12, judging on tonight's performances. I thought only two deserved it, and one merely on previous performances. Blake Lewis was good. It was a strange song, well, I wouldn't even call it "song", but he performed, and well. Chris Sligh is overall good enough to let it slide once in a while because usually he outsings any other contestant, so he can be forgiven for mistaking shouting for singing, I think. The little Indian girl, who was mistakenly put into the boys' section (facial hair does not automatically make you a boy, you know), should have been sent home last week, and her performance tonight proved once again that she does not belong there. The other five performances ranged between abominable and mediocre. I'm looking forward to seeing how the females are going to do tomorrow night.

By the way, if you want to hear one of your favourite authors read an excerpt of her own story, go listen to Shrimpcast. A smoking Dementor, Moaning Myrtle... all read in that gorgeous voice of the author. Need I say more???
