We are still dealing with the speedy jinx, but you can listen at normal speed by clicking here.

I can't wait to listen!

About the speedy jinx--I have no idea what you mean, but if it's what I think you mean, then have you ensured your final mp3 is exporting only mono tracks? If you have any stereo tracks at all in your project when you go to export the whole thing as an mp3, then you will get "chipmunk-itis."

You can split any stereo tracks in your project, close either the left or the right, and then make the remaining track mono. Could that maybe be the trouble?

I'm so glad you're continuing to do these! They are really loads of fun!

Ack. Spammity spam spam!

Okay, I just opened episode 3 with Audacity and it is a 'stereo' track, which is likely the culprit (there, now you know how to cast a speedy jinx!). Feel free to ping me if you have any questions!

Cheers!

I got all excited upon reading your message and went to check it all. Now, strangely enough, I have the GarageBand set to export mono, and when I pull up the Shrimpcast in iTunes and click on the info, it tells me it's mono as well. Now, I tried opening the file in Audacity, and although it gives me two tracks, but one is completely clear, and the file won't play in it at all. Well, it plays, but sounds like one continuous alarm tone rather than what's recorded. I've been searching hi and lo since the last episode cuz it happened there as well. What I find really weird is that the file plays perfect everywhere else. It's only when you play it on the player that comes up on the blog that it'll play in chipmunk mode...

You might want to make sure all of your tracks are mono prior to exporting with GarageBand. Even though you are exporting as mono, that doesn't necessarily mean all players will recognize the mp3 as mono.

Any music you add, any recorded voice--all tracks, prior to final exporting, might have to be checked to make sure they are mono. I think all web widgets and players will go chipmunky. Ours on our site does, as well as another one we use on our MySpace.

In short, if I were you, I'd check your music tracks first. We had to convert all of our music leads to mono (as they were our culprit).

*argh* Of course. The music tracks. I compose the music on the old computer with an old version of GarageBand, which doesn't even give me any option as to whether I want it stereo or mono! And of course, if I convert it to .mp3 to import in the podcast GarageBand file, it'll do stereo presumably. *sigh* I'll have to see if I can mono-tize it with Audacity... Meh.

Thanks for your help!!! I know I'm sounding a bit peeved, but I truly appreciate your pointers! :-)

That's strange. When I tested it, the sound was pretty balanced, ie the voices all had more or less the same volume. I'll have to check on that again and try it without the speakers etc. Thanks for pointing it out!
