We got home just after 7.30 tonight. The weather was wonderful (thanks, love, for sending sunshine!), and we only encountered one two-minute traffic jam.

[livejournal.com profile] blue_paris hasn't joined us in the kitchen yet, but I'm sure she'll get here, and then we can chat across the table as well as chatting online, just like we did before Portus.

I'm so so so glad that [livejournal.com profile] shalimar1981 is still here—it still feels sort of holiday-ish. Oh, and have I mentioned that Dorkboy might have to go to Chicago for a few days? He said he'll try his best to have the trip coincide with Terminus, so I can at least go and meet some of you! *squee*

Damn, I think I got the travel bug again. *snerk*

Have I mentioned how absolutely, utterly, splendidly awesome it was to meet you? I've had the time of my life, and I'm not the only one. *squees some more*

Saturday in Dallas )

A most wonderful day, all in all, and I'm almost sad to see the adventure coming to an end. I'm exhausted. I'm neither used to nor do I generally like socialising, but I've had the time of a life, and I will surely treasure those wonderful memories for many years to come.

There are some pics that didn't turn out well. I'll have to ask [livejournal.com profile] blue_paris to play around with them to make them sharper and will then post those as well. We also got to meet [livejournal.com profile] pern_dragon, who is absolutely lovely! We spent the afternoon at the Anatole, hanging out with and meeting quite a few people, who I've known by name or online for a while, and it was great.

Portus ends tomorrow and most people are leaving. We're staying another day to chill in the morning, then chill with [livejournal.com profile] rdholmantx in the afternoon, which possibly involves watching AR movies, then chill some more over dinner, hopefully with Amy Potterbrat. I've not managed to meet [livejournal.com profile] bambu345 *cries*, [livejournal.com profile] lariopefic, [livejournal.com profile] shellsnapeluver, or [livejournal.com profile] lulabelle72. I've heard rumours the latter three are staying tomorrow, too, and [livejournal.com profile] irishredlass69 let Lariope know that we're staying too, so maybe they'll join us some time tomorrow...

We took it easy today and spent most of the afternoon and early evening at the Anatole to watch witches and wizards after some chilling at the Marriott.

It's been a great day. I finally got to meet [livejournal.com profile] rdholmantx, whom we missed last night. I also got to briefly meet [livejournal.com profile] subvers and [livejournal.com profile] sshg316 with much squeeing. Robbi showed us Uptown Dallas, which was lovely. The Starbucks is big and lovely. The freeway is pretty horrid, but thanks to Robbi, I didn't get lost. Until we dropped everyone back to the hotel and I bragged that I'd find my way back to the hotels. *Snicker* Promptly took the wrong turn.

[livejournal.com profile] blue_paris, [livejournal.com profile] shalimar1981, her little one, and I met up with [livejournal.com profile] southernwitch69, her son, and [livejournal.com profile] beaweasley2 late morning. We visited the Death Eaters' room where I met [livejournal.com profile] ellaselenelupin who gifted me not only with German chocolate *squeee* but also a magnet with a picture of the dome of the German Reichstag *squeeeeeeeee*.

Then we went for lunch at Denny's, which was great. We've not been to a Denny's in about nine years, and I was glad to see that nothing has changed. Later, [livejournal.com profile] soulbound8686 and towards the end, [livejournal.com profile] rdholmantx joined us, and we walked over to the Anatole where we saw a lot of wizards and witches, including Lucius Malfoy, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named with several Death Eaters, Madam Hooch, and others.

And here be some picspam )

When we got to Budget in Mid-town this morning, with 15 minutes delay no less, we were told there are cars being transferred from the airport and it would take about 20 minutes. So I looked suitably disappointed and muttered about important stuff going on in Dallas. The nice lady then said we could have the van (the only car they had readily there) at no extra charge. I inquired about the gas usage cuz, you know, that's kind of an issue these days. She gave me the info, and then her colleague suggested to give us a ten percent discount to make up for the extra gas we'd be spending. So we have a 7-seater van with built-in DVD player and Sirius radio for the price of a compact. It drives simply awesomely. Going 85mph went entirely unnoticed by the sleeping crew.

About 50 miles out of Memphis, some torrential rain hit us. In fact, so torrential, I pulled the car to the side and stood there for nearly half an hour until the rain let off. It was quite impressive. Even more impressive was the fact that no tornado appeared. After that, the journey went uneventful, and we arrived at the Marriott to see SW69 and SoulBound at about 8.45pm. It's hot, but not as unbearably muggy as Memphis has been these past few days. [livejournal.com profile] shalimar1981 took some pics on the journey, and I will, no doubt, take loads tomorrow, which we'll spend with [livejournal.com profile] rdholmantx, [livejournal.com profile] southernwitch69, [livejournal.com profile] soulbound8686 and probably a bunch of others we come across on our wanderings through the Anatole and the Marriott poolside.

Going to pick up the car now, then pack it, then we'll be off. Should be at the Marriott around 6.30pm-ish. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Don't take over the world while I'm gone, k?

ZOMG

Wednesday is approaching! The car has been booked. Yeah, a rental will actually save enough on gas compared to our guzzler to make it worthwhile, and besides, Dorkboy needs transport while I'm gone; plus, he's bound to drive less than a thousand miles while we're away. ;)

So, yeah. Seems like yesterday when [livejournal.com profile] subvers posted in her LJ that she is so going to Dallas, and now it's here, a year or so later.

I'll definitely be at the meet-up on Saturday at the Marriott and likely at the Mob meet on Friday starting at the Anatole, but according to [livejournal.com profile] ladyofthemasque, moving elsewhere.

[livejournal.com profile] rdholmantx promised to take me to Ikea, which I'm also tremendously looking forward to. I mean, I haven't seen a decently cheap furniture shop in years! Oh, and I'd love to go to the yarn store, too. Their arsenal of turquoise yarn looks amazing, and I'm nearly done with the second sock of one pair, so I'll need some new yarn soon. Then there is the construction site of the Dallas Opera, which I absolutely have to see. And I can probably think of a few other places, too, such as that museum Robbi mentioned, all about conspiracies. Me? Conspiracies? Nevvah. *looks around with shifty eyes*

If you wanna meet up any place, leave a comment or email me.
