Feb. 26th, 2007 09:55 pmBy tomorrow evening, I'll have driven nearly 700 miles since Friday evening, I can't believe it. Looks like I'm making up for the year and a half when I didn't have a car, LOL.
Friday evening, we went to Jackson to pick up Dorkboy from the airport. That's a 250 mile round-trip. It was very enjoyable because Jackson has what the home-town doesn't: a Starbucks. Well, several, but we have one favourite, which is on the way to the airport and a drive-through no less. And besides, the very sophisticated staff actually understand my British English, which means I don't have to switch on that Southern drawl I can't do in order to be comprehended. Yay.
So, we were going to go to Memphis today, that was the initial plan, have some coffee, do some shopping, have coffee, go to the Apple store, have some coffee, drop Dorkboy at the airport, have coffee... But thankfully, Dorkboy had been given the option of working from home today, which means he won't leave until tomorrow. So, instead, Sara and I went to the Apple store yesterday. Oh, we had coffee, too. All in all, a very nice day out.We I spent lots of money and drove lots. Another 230 miles. But the coffee was lovely, the visit to WildOats well worth it, and I have new toys to play with.
I found lambs lettuce at WildOats, I was absolutely tickled. It is my all-time favourite green, and I have it pretty much with everything, pasta, omelette, rice, potatoes, you name it. Occasionally I like lambs lettuce with Newman's Own Ranch Dressing, but mostly, I just sprinkle some balsamic vinegar and virgin olive oil on it, it is divine.
I also found alfalfa sprout seeds, so I no longer have to rely on the unreliable local Wallyworld to stock up their sprouts. Hmph ::shows indecent gesture to WM::
Tomorrow, we shall indulge in another 220 mile round-trip, dropping Dorkboy off at the airport. But not before we pay a visit to Starbucks and the bookstore. And, oh, maybe PacSun. Hot Topic, unfortunately, is too far out of the way, as Little Man has karate lessons in the evening.
I'm gonna miss Dorkboy terribly, I always do, but at the same time I'm glad I'm so busy. A new episode of Shrimpcast to finalise, cloaks to finish, dresses to start in the sewing department, and plenty of writing to do.
