The shrimps kids and I are off to NOLA, yay. Dahling, I'll contact you one way or another tonight when we're settled in. I suppose Café du Monde will be a good place to meet? Just thinking about the beignets makes me feel hungry. :-)

Hopefully, we'll find a place for the HGSS Rendezvous, which is the main reason we're going. Among others. Such as finding a shrimp, eating beignets, drinking coffee, and being generally mischievous.

Having just experienced my very first taste of NOLA I know I'll be back before too long. Wow, what a place! The architecture is delightful, saxophone players on each street corner, it is absolutely amazing. Let me know if you wanna meet up any time in the future, and I'll be back here. :-)
Btw, did you get my email about a theme song? I've been playing around with GarageBand and my keyboard... I'm sure I can throw a piece together, and then we could song-write it. Yes, no, maybe? :-)

Enjoy the cafe au lait- Starbucks has nothing on Cafe du Monde's. :D I'm so happy for you! And don't let anyone peel and eat the kids. ;) Oooh, now I'm feeling a serious hankering for gulf shrimp. Curses!

Have a marvelous marvelous time! Those of us in distinctly less fannish locales site in envy!

Thank you! It was indeed absolutely awesome, from missing the tornado by some inches or miles to enjoying breakfast at the Café du Monde. The kids, I'm happy to report, were neither peeled nor eaten. :-) And, boy, did I enjoy those Cajun Shimps at Bubba Gump! I live a mainly vegetarian diet, but occasionally, I fail to resist the call of the oceans... That shrimp was... ah, let's say if it was my last meal, I'd die a happy person!
Do you mean to say you won't be coming to Phoenix Rising then? :-(

Don't feel too sorry for me- I'm heading to Europe on the 26th, which is why I'm short on vacation time ;)

I forgot about your Europe trip! I'm sure it'll be wonderful. :-)

Not going to Phoenix Rising was more of a selfish thought, really. It would have been the ideal opportunity to meet you in person. :-)

I'm very sorry to have missed that opportunity! It is a difficult thing, getting to know awesome people like you on LJ when it's so hard to get together in person.

Alas, the only fandom-ey thing I do annually is to attend Comic-Con at home in San Diego. Still, for all that there really isn't an HP focus unless there's a film coming out, you see an awful lot of Hogwarts students and professors!

Have a great trip. I'm envious! Have some crawfish etouffee for me - if you like it, that is.

Thank you. It was great, no, it was grand, I'm lost for words. Nawleans is absolutely awesome.
You know, I was going to be brave and have crawfish ettouffee, just because you asked and because I really love what you're writing, and I would have loved to have humoured you with that. But the place we had lunch at, Bubba Gump, didn't offer it. So I settled for Cajun Shimp instead. Sorry 'bout that. But we'll go again, and I'll keep the crawfish in mind for then! :-)

Have a great trip! Hope you find somewhere good for the HGSS Rendezvous. I've never been to New Orleans; I can't wait!

Oh, yeah! I posted to phoenix_sshg about it. Oh, man, I love New York City, but New Orleans is an entirely different matter. It's, oh, I don't know. I could never live in NY, too big, too loud, too busy and all that. NO is loud and busy too, but there is something about it, yanno?
I think we all have trouble "waiting" for May to come around, lol. Right now I'm trying to figure out if I can afford another trip down there between now and then. Yeah, it's that great. The atmosphere is like a mixture of Covent Garden and KuDamm and somewhere in Paris and maybe somewhere in Milan. There's a bit of everything without anything overwhelming or not enough. It's just absolutely perfect. :-)

I can't wait to experience NO! We're going down Wed. morning and not coming back until Tuesday night so we'll have some exta time to explore.

One of the women I'm going with visits NO about once a year so she promised to make sure I see the best parts.
