The Phoenix Has Risen or Picspam Day 2

It's been a looooooooong and beautiful day, and I'm now sitting on the bed with a glass of Chardonnay in my hand and the computer on the lap, uploading pictures from the camera.

My day started early as I had arranged with kimberly_elf to meet her at a parking lot by the airport. The journey was uneventful, with fairly reasonable traffic, and we returned to Canal Street by about 8.30. Kimberly gifted me with a laminated version of my Zodico sig tag, over which I squeed much. Her Zodico flag is absolutely awesome!

blue_paris grumbled upon my return to the room because she'd overslept, but it really didn't matter. We set out to the Starbucks on the corner of Canal St and some other street, one where they accept Starbucks cards, and had breakfast there, which was rather enjoyable. Then we wandered around the FQ for a little while, checking out Urban Outfitters and a few other stores before returning to the hotel to do nothing for a bit. Later on, we went to the Sheraton again, met some more interesting people, and generally had a good time.

On the way to the Sheraton, I very briefly met ellaselenelupin, and I hope to get a chance to meet her properly. Her flight was royally delayed, which was really unfair, considering she had to travel a few thousand miles.

Yesterday's Lord Voldemort was today's Narcissa Malfoy, and what a gorgeous one she was. I admit I'm curious now as to who she'll turn up as tomorrow!

I set out with blue_paris to find a bite to eat, and just as we found a cheap and cheerful place, my phone rang, and the incredible happened.

One year and two months after the first attempt, I met southernwitch69. Yup, *nods*, she phoned to say she and soul_bound_8686 made it into Nawlins and were in front of the hotel. So I shamelessly abandoned blue_paris for a moment and ran towards the hotel to meet them half way. After some fierce hugs, we walked back to the café where blue_paris was waiting, sat down, and had a generally good time before setting off back to the Sheraton.

There, we went to check out the common rooms for the various houses, met with hogwartshoney, charmed310 and Wickedly Wanton, and probably some more I can't remember right now, sorry peops if you feel ignored!

And here be the Black sisters. The blonde beauty is tatiana422. You can blame her for me writing drivel fanfic because it was her challenge that initially made me write something.

I don't need to tell you I had a wonderful time, I think it shows in the pictures. What has always fascinated me about the HP fandom is the incredible creativity, and I've never witnessed it more than today.

From bright green bracelets studded with tiny glass beads to flag pins in green adorned with ribbon stating "I love music", from tiny ashwinder babies (yeah, I have a new pet *squee*) to black Mardi Gras beads with a Snapecast button, and probably a whole lot I've forgotten, the creativity is incredible and literally endless.

I've been gifted by ofenjen with Shrimpcast buttons, which caused much squeeeing. Thank you, ofenjen, that was such a wonderful gift!

Tomorrow looks to be another long and wonderful day. We'll have the Snermione Rendezvous at 1pm, followed by the drabble presentation at 3pm, and I'll have my first volunteering shift at 8pm.

Thirty people have signed up for the rendezvous, and I shall be taking loads and loads of pictures, and not only that - I'll be bringing a notebook and have everyone write/draw in it. Once back home, I'll scan and post it.

I'll have to see about recording the drabble presentation.

Nah, only one out of the lot.

We are having a total blast. I'm not used to people generally, and I tend to tire quickly at the end of a day meeting with so many different people and having so many different impressions, but I wouldn't want to miss the experience for anything in the world. Being able to talk Harry Potter all the time without weirding out people is just awesome. :-)
