about creativity
Jan. 28th, 2005 08:27 pmFor the first time in my life, I used a sewing machine today. Yep, I did. I've always been frightened of them, thinking that the most difficult part of sewing is using that darn machine. But you know what? Once you've pinned the pattern and cut it, the easiest part is the sewing bit! Little One's cloak is nearly ready, all it needs doing is hand-sewing the neck bit of the lining to the actual cloak and taking in the seam of the hood, and then it'll be done, yeah!
The more I learn about sewing, the more I'm fascinated. Bribbet came around today, which is the reason why Little One's cloak has suddenly become so advanced *grin*, with her sewing machine. I don't have one. Yet. But it won't take long, that I've promised myself. The various pieces of the garment make more sense to me now, that I spent another few hours with Bribbet teaching me. She makes a great teacher, you can tell she's experienced in home-schooling!
Anyways, I ironed the cloak (with the lining) thoroughly, and started the hand-sewing, but alas, the light isn't that great in my kitchen! Or elsewhere, to be honest. So I'm gonna have to wait till the morning, when there'll be natural light. Once Little One's cloak is done, I'll start pinning my own. I won't cut anything until Bribbet approves the pinning, but as I'll see her Monday, I won't have to wait for long.
My fingers are really itchy now, I want to get a load of patterns and sew my own clothes. That's probably until Bribbet teaches me how to design my own clothes, because once I know how to, the sky will be my limit. I am sooooo looking forward to that stage!
Is all for now as I'm seriously tired. :-)
