Being in a teasing mood

lady_kareliaWell I've been spending most of this far too hot Saturday either writing or reading. I'm happy to announce that I'm allowed to nitpick the Lady_J's book. It's so nice and I feel seriously wanted and privileged that I get to find any mistakes that someone or other might have missed. I'm also relieved that her work is entirely different from mine; I think it would have been more difficult if there was any similarity, but thankfully, my admittedly uncaring fear was unfounded. :-)
I've rediscovered a beautiful old German song. It is nice to listen to, but the words are most beautiful: You ask why I can live so contentedly with you / I like you because you are intelligent and tender / although those are not the only reasons / You always show me that it is possible to be entirely woman and yet free / Priest, teacher or small child / you can be all of those for me / Who is born as woman / One is made to be woman. With plenty of repeats to make it a good 3 minute long song :-) Zusammenleben by Milva just in case anyone is curious enough.
Since I've now written about 3600 words of the last chapter of 'Outcast' and am hoping to complete it over the next couple of days, I feel justified to offer a teaser One Saturday, Hermione found herself alone with not much to do. Professor Snape had taken Draco on a hike in the Forbidden Forest with the help of Harry’s invisibility cloak, in order to harvest some potion ingredients the efficacy of which depended on the first frost. He also wanted Draco to replenish much needed fresh air and natural daylight. Hermione’s school work and studies were up to date, so she first went to the library to find some books to read, but it was far too crowded with fifth and seventh year students panicking about OWLs and NEWTs later in the year. She deliberated going for a walk in the Forest, but the cold weather did not appeal to her in the slightest.
Eventually the young witch had the idea to try the Room of Requirement, hoping she might find either a quiet space to read or some musical instruments to play. The Room kindly obliged and provided her with a sanctuary for the day. As Hermione entered, her eyes fell immediately on the grand piano in the centre, making her heart beat faster. Two walls were lined with shelves filled from floor to ceiling with books of all sizes. The third wall showed a large window overlooking the Hogwarts grounds with the Forbidden Forest in the distance and one wall displayed various paintings, some resembling muggle landscapes, others the typical wizard portraits. Scattered around the room were various musical instruments.
Hermione spent the first hour or so simply playing various tunes on the piano and charming some of the other instruments to represent orchestral sounds before moving on to her project that was ever present in her mind, creating a tune resembling the Song of the Phoenix. She knew she was getting closer when she was overcome with a feeling of peace, serenity and content. After a short break, she sat down at the piano again to continue playing, only to be interrupted by a sound that did not belong to any of the charmed instruments. It sounded like a sniffle.
As to the next teaser, well, I've been having a conversation via e-mail with the Lady_J, sent her a little teaser of my original work, and she said she's intrigued. And figured the book is about witches. So I said, no it isn't. And she's not pressuring me or anything *snigger*, but wants to know more. And I know Aunt M is curious, too (hoping you got your eccletricity back, Aunt M!!!), and she's been encouraging more than anyone else with this biggest project, so... I figured I'd offer a little tease here, in public. For those who've asked: It will most likely be classified as "Fantasy", although I'd like to think of it more along the lines of an "Esoteric Thriller". Oh yeah, if anyone has any ideas as to the meaning of the name "Tracero", please do leave your comment or email me. Let it be known that the copyright for my writings is entirely mine and nobody else's. Tracero speaks
Moonchild has finally returned, I am truly happy. She did not have to stay on for that long. But alas, it would not be Moonchild if she did not use the opportunity to make the most of her abilities and conclude an assignment according to her standards. And what high standards she has! Assignments in Orbishumi are never easy, but to actually single-handedly raise the frequency by bringing awareness of poisons to an entire people is something only someone of Moonchild’s calibre might accomplish. I do not say this light-heartedly, for the nature of my being ensures that I know. The Crones occasionally grumble that I have developed a soft spot for Moonchild, but really, it is merely for show. My love for Moonchild is no different than how, say, Electra feels about Gipsy, or Arcturia feels about Sophisticat. Even Enokrad occasionally falters and shows his affection for Croco. Naturally, love abounds here where we are, however, it does not stop any of us feeling particularly strong about one of our protégées. I’m not exempt, even though I do not have the excuse the Crones tend to use, of being reminded of the “Good old days” when they were young and went on assignments themselves, for I am neither female nor one with a history of assignments. I have only one and it is permanent. But I digress... I am happy to have Moonchild near, well and whole, however temporary it is. She is the last one to return, Croco, Gipsy, Artist, Healer, Rebel and Sophisticat arrived earlier, have rested and are now impatient to share their latest adventures with dear Moonchild. They will spend a little time together, have fun, travel with the Dolphins and absorb their wisdom, be joyful, and no doubt get into some mischief which will result in much laughter no matter how disdainful the Crones will try to look. Then they’ll be ready to prepare for their toughest, hardest and most difficult assignment yet - Projectum Nostalgium - as the Confederation of the Wise have so aptly named it.
