This BBC article and this one would have me laugh if it wasn't so sad and dire. Of course Mr Blair backs the idea. Anything to gain full control of every single individual. Turn them all into sheep, and start as early as possible. Women are only capable of conceiving the child, but entirely incapable of bringing up their offspring. For that, we have the government, all powerful, all omniscient, and evidently multi-talented, seeing they know what's best for everyone.

So, we'll have unruly parents being forced to sing nursery rhymes to their children, and please ensure it's all sung in the G-scale because C might encourage their brains to do some thinking, and we can't have that. In eighteen years, then, we'll have an entire generation of sheep. These sheep will have no choice but to turn to the government to choose a husband or wife for them because, let's face it, using one's brain and displaying individuality are highly discouraged and frowned upon to the extent that it might end you up in boot-camp. And this will be when the government will provide the solution: The Marriage Act.

Harrumph. The one positive thing I can see in this is that through this programme, British children are receiving pre-school music education. All my other thoughts are like yorus. Children around the world are dying of starvation and preventable disease, and the Brits are worried that their kiddies won't know such classics of the bubonic plague as "Ring Around the Rosy," or receive early indoctrination to sexual intimidation via Georgey Porgey Puddin' n' Pie.

Still, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy to know that our government in the US hasn't yet cornered the market on ridiculous public policy to distract from the serious problems.

Marraige Law Ahoy!

Yes, IF anything positive could be seen about that, this would be it. But then there is the danger of traumatising a child for life by singing to them. I can't sing to save my life, and I have no doubt my children are grateful that I never did. They don't mind me playing the keyboard, but singing is just not on.
It's not the Brits who are worried, though, I think. It's a government that has nothing better to do than to impose complete control over the lives of its citizens.

Marriage Law Ahoy indeed!
