Can anyone tell me if there is a way that allows me to see what rating a reviewer has given? It shows up all blank on my screen except in the author listing and possibly the chapter listing, but not on the individual reviews. Thanks.

I know when they swapped over to Mage, you could see what rating each reviewer had given, but I think you'd have to email the admins onsite to get that sort of info now.

Will have a fiddle with my account and see if I can work out how to do it. :)

I thought I'd remembered that at one time we could see the individual ratings. I've tried just about everything I could think of, but the only time the rating comes up at all is on my author page, not even on the chapters page. *grumble* If you do find out, let me know, pretty please.

To the best of my knowledge there is no way to do so on Ashwinder w/out contacting the mods. I've never done that... would be an interesting thing to do. It'd be nice if we could see. *concurs with you*

*sigh* I was hoping it was me rather than their system *snerk*.

I got this weird-arse review from someone who only had the account for a short while and only left one review. And I could swear my rating was a full 5 stars a couple of days ago on that story. I think I might contact the mods and ask them, even if it's out of sheer curiosity...

Well that's bitchy. I'm sorry, love. Maybe some of us should just go review whichever story it was (which was it?) and boost those ratings right back up. *nods*

You're a real sweetheart, you know? It's okay, though. I'm not bothered by low ratings, and half a point isn't going to kill me. I'm merely curious if that person left a low rating. It's the review for Chapter 10 of No Music More Enchanting on Ashwinder, the one that complains about me leaving very little mystery and comparing it to Nancy Drew. I mean, surely, you'd expect mystery in a story that is in the category of Romance *snort*. I suppose the reviewer isn't the brightest star in the sky, but alas. :-)

I've never read that one! I must go read it soon. *nod nod* (and boost ratings, of oourse)

As a quick note, this post inspired me to go back through some of my reviews, and I found two for the very last chapter of Dark Roast that torqued me.

First: That was a great story but the end was a little of a let down. I really think we need an epilogue - no pressure.
Second: She should just kill him now, the prick. He definitely deserves it.

...I so enjoy reviews. *sighs* Funny how the bad ones can stick out, but the good ones are fabulous.

*snort* How can the end be a let down???? Sheesh, some readers... But of course, it explains why so much craptastic fiction is published. I won't even acknowledge the second review, lol.

I agree, most reviews are wonderful, but then it's always the bad ones that stick out. And, oh, what a surprise, the bad ones are usually by readers who've not written a story to be read by all and sundry *snerk*.

You can't see who left you what. Sadley enough. That was one of the good things about Mage.

TPP has us spoiled, I think, eh?

The only thing this does is enable pricks to slide in bad ratings while giving you false reviews. Hehehe

"Oh, it was great, you rock!!!" 3 out of 10

Yanno, I prefer TPP with its visible rating... Yes, it's off-pissing if they do the "great story" with zero points thing, but then we can ask wtf. I find it more disconcerting to not know what a reader gives, especially a reader who moans about a "lack of mystery" in a story that was clearly in the Romance and General category...

Personally, I hate knowing what the ratings are. I think that they are childish and stupid and completely subjective. You can't see the individual ones at Ashwinder (thank GOD!), but keep in mind that it only takes a single 4 1/2 star rating out of hundreds there, will make it a 4 1/2 star rating forever.

I posted a rant (http://ginny-weasley31.livejournal.com/169280.html#cutid1) about the rating system a couple of weeks ago. I'm rather strongly opinionated on this point.

I understand, but I prefer to know... I find it very disconcerting if suddenly the stars are less in the story, and I can't tell why.

*puts on help desk hat*

Right now, as it stands, our current version of e-fiction software doesn't allow for that sort of thing. Of course, the version we're running is currently so bollocked up, that it can be a real pain in the ass.

The good news is, we are, eventually, going to upgrade to a newer e-fiction version. The bad news is, we don't know how long that's going to take, nor what sort of new shinny things we'll have once the move is done because none of us admins knows jack shit about e-fiction at the moment (we're all reading about it and slowly learning).

Thank you for clarifying! And i don't mean to cause any trouble. I was merely interested because I got a weird review.

I keep coming across you and we seem to share a few friends. Mind if I friend you?
