Wibbling Thursday
Sep. 6th, 2007 09:52 pmLast night, I bought a book from amazon for $0.05, isn't that grand? I mean, okay, the shipping is $3.99, but if I'd bought the same book for $0.01, I would have been charged $4.99 shipping. Go figure. Of course, what I really wanted to do was buy Foster Works 4, which has free shipping, but unfortunately, the cost of the book is $127, which kind of exceeds my non-existent budget right now. Damn!
I spent half the day in bed with cramps from hell until I finally remembered that overdosing on fish oil usually helps. It did, and I'm feeling sort of human again without the need to crawl into bed every ten minutes. Nevertheless, the entire episode sux cuz I had all the ingredients to make Coquilles St Jacques, and all I could eat was dry baguette. Ah well. Tomorrow is another day.
Having run out of excuses to vegetate, watching various Pavarotti performances on youtube (thanks,
subvers, for that idea!), I turned to the chapter-that-has-taken-forever to do some cleaning up. I'll have to sleep on it, but after a final read/edit in the morning, I'll send it off to NSS for beta'ing. And that's just as well because...
*drum roll*
...tonight, I received my
sshg_exchange assignment.
I must take a moment here to sing praise. These mods are doing an absolutely awesome job. Just imagine, having to assign close to 200 assignments between big name authors, little name authors and complete newbie authors and the same with artists. I know I couldn't do it! Add to that the smooth running of the exchange, finding pinch hitters for those who drop out, finding betas for the newbies, holding hands with the ones who panic, lend an ear to those who need to vent... ::is in complete awe:: So, anyway, when the email came in, I just sat there, staring at it. Then I got my courage together and read it. And felt simultaneously relieved and apprehensive. Relieved because at least one prompt was written just for me. As I read the prompts, plot bunnies galore attacked me. And then I realised my apprehension; damn, that person who wrote the prompt... is one skilled person. I just hope I can do her justice.
And, ooooohhhhh, we've had rain! *squeeeeeeee* I can see the 'shroom faeries rejoicing and the little 'shrooms carefully breaking through the forest soil. ::iz happy::
