I made camembert. Premier Cru to boot. It looks good so far.

At one hour old. I expect them to shrink by another third or so by tomorrow morning. This is the yield of just over one gallon.

On Tuesday, it was a gallon of milk, now it's feta ready to be brined. It's pretty tasteless at this stage, not even salty, but the smell is... potent.

The jalapeno and tomato sprouts. We took the domes off yesterday, which is way ahead of schedule apparently. Maybe it's the Bach and Beethoven they get to hear every night ;)

And here is Teh Pretty with all three: two tomato plants and one jalapeno. Well, right now there are about twelve in total, but there'll be only three left I think. I'm supposed to snip the smallest ones...

You seem a wonder in the kitchen, and the feta looks tasty, even at that stage.

I have been thinking about talking my hubby into getting me an Aerogarden. However, I am afraid my black thumb will kill anything I try to grow in it. Do you like yours?

I just love playing in the kitchen, lol!

Aerogarden, this is my first go with it. So far, it's working very well, and I love the light and water-dripping sound. Some people don't. From what I've read, even people who don't have success growing stuff in earth do well with the Aerogarden. I'll report my progress as the plants grow. :)

The airgarden is rather bigger than I thought it would be. Yay, music for the plants!

It's not really that big. It fits comfortably on the end table. And the arm with the lights is adjustable, so it'll only grow in height. :)

Okay, you've convinced me. Ma-in-law's getting an Aerogarden for Hanukmas, if the single UK supplier doesn't run out.

Just the prospect of having fresh tomatoes in the midst of winter makes my mouth water. LOL

Oooh, I'd been thinking of getting one of these! Not sure if it would be OK in my draughty old house though, would it keep the plants warm enough? I was also worried because you have to use their seeds (I think?) Wasn't sure if they were organic, treated or what. I am very jealous you have one, aren't they gorgeous to look at? Very Mac-like! Or Eglu-like! Lovely, curved lines!
The cheese looks good btw. Loved the paneer you used to make me too!

I don't think draughty conditions would matter much. I mean, if you'd grow them outside, they'd have to put up with the wind. The lights chuck out a bit of warmth, too.

Here, their seeds and nutrition are all organic, and it's very easy maintenance: you chuck in two feed tablets and fill the water up every other week, plus occasional pruning when they're grown bigger.

You're right! They are kind of Mac-like!

The cheeses have shrunk; they now look almost identical in size to the normal camembert from shops. Now, to wait for the mould to grow...

*smiles* Watching the plants grow has now become nearly possible. They grow so fast! Like, half an inch in height or their leaves expand half an inch in a day, it's amazing!

Time to salt the cheese...

*gigglesnort*

It actually doesn't look that creamy in RL; my camera was very kind me thinks. And it's still shrinking! *gasp*

I'll take another pic in a day or two, including the ghetto set-up *smirk*

I wish I had the patience for that - even the talent. :(

But my idea of cooking is no more than twenty minutes top.

I doubt you need talent, just the ability to read and follow a recipe is perfectly sufficient. :)

Of course, twenty mins won't do... LOL

Big box with Aerogarden now sitting in my hallway. Am resisting taking it out and assembling it and keeping it for myself. And they actually emailed to check it had arrived okay and to ask where I'd heard of them - my reply to the latter presumably won't be very useful to them. Looking forward to helping ma-in-law play with it!

That is really awesome! Do you keep the plants in the Aerogarden the whole time? Or do you transplant them once they get big? I've only ever grown tomatoe and jalepeno outside, but I'd love to have them fresh in the winter.

They stay in there all the time until the plants stop producing, and then I can grow something new. It is awesome. They've grown to about three times the size now. I will take pics again. :)
