Now you probably ask yourself where the chillblains come in *snigger*. Well I can't really tell. The adventures in the subject line are entirely Joy's fault. She was supposed to come here today, but couldn't as she's unwell. So I sent her healing vibes, and you might have an idea why there are chillblains in the subject line. She mentioned in her phone call that she really enjoys my blog (@Joy: you mad woman, you :-) ), so I promised I'd make today an adventurous day *smile* and write about it on here. Alas, the muse had different plans for me *grin*. Rather than "reporting" yet another more or less typical day, I turned it into a short story, having realized that I have not done any creative writing for a while. So here you go. Joy, the text between the lines is dedicated to you. All of the 1253 words.

Lady Karelia considered riding to the coach station, but then dismissed the thought as impractical. After all, it wasn’t a long walk from her residence, and riding on a broomstick simply attracted too much attention, even for the Lady, who was used to being stared at by the Mere Mortals, since she made no secret of who she was. She herself might have preferred to reside in a more magical community, closer to one of the Covens, but her Beloved, Lord Snape, liked this non-descript part of the Southern Town, and her children were happy here, too.Initially, she had planned on picking up the coach tickets tomorrow, but as her friend, the Lady Joyous had to cancel their get-together due to being unwell, she decided to make use of the free time before getting down to sew her new cloak together. She turned to her son. “Little One, would you like to walk with me to the coach station, please? ‘Tis not snowing right now, but if you like, you can will some snow flakes to enjoy on the walk.” Little One’s face lit up with joy. “Why yes, mom, I would like that very much. Might we visit Kerry as well?” “Oh what a splendid idea that is, Little One! I shall give Lady Becca a ring immediately, to see if she is home.” As Lady Karelia suspected, Lady Becca was indeed home and delighted to have visitors.
Without further ado, Lady Karelia and her Little One donned their cloaks and went off to the coach station. Whilst Little One gleefully rejoiced over the snowflakes that were now falling steadily, Lady Karelia willed the queue at the ticket office to shorten. When they arrived, the queue was indeed very short. However, she had entirely forgotten to will some sense into the dunderheads the National Express company calls employees, so it took rather a while to purchase 3 simple coach tickets for 2 different dates. Of course, they could have flown on brooms, but riding a broom to the theatre is simply not becoming two ladies. Tickets finally in hand, having checked that they truly were for the correct dates and destination, Lady Karelia and her son walked the short distance to Lady Becca’s residence. As it was Lady Karelia’s first visit, Lady Becca speedily gave her a tour of the mansion. Lady Karelia was very impressed by the creativity Lady Becca displayed in the decoration of her home. Finely stencilled Fleurs de Lys on frames holding mirrors, sunshine yellow bathroom walls, delicately painted gold patina on blue shelves, the whole mansion spelled out delight and comfort. Kerry was happy to see Little One again, and they almost immediately disappeared to Planet Bionicle. Neither Lady minded this, as it meant that they could talk about any subject, without taking into consideration the delicate ears of little boys. They did cover many subjects, details of which shall not be disclosed to the public.
Lady Becca had prepared for Lady Karelia’s visit in spectacular fashion, considering the short notice she was given. Lady Karelia’s favourite beverage, black, freshly brewed coffee was readily waiting for her upon her arrival. Lady Becca had also conjured an Indian lentil dish; taking into consideration her friend’s dislike for diseased flesh, the Mere Mortals call it “meat” and consider it to be food; and she even had chillies to offer, fully aware of Lady Karelia’s fondness of spicy food. The visitor chose the red chilly over the green one, expecting it to be hotter because of its fiery colour. Lady Becca took the green chilly. Whilst the red one was very mild, the poor host nearly choked on her green one. How sometimes colour can be deceiving! After hearty laughter over the deceiving chillies, and many gulps of water, lunch was pleasantly concluded. The next coffee, freshly brewed and black, was served in a mug with the words OH WHAT FUN on it, a statement Lady Karelia considered very appropriate. The coffee, or rather the caffeine contained therein, was truly appreciated, as the visiting lady felt somewhat tired, having eaten a sizeable lunch, an indulgence she was not familiar with. Lady Karelia usually preferred a late, hearty breakfast, followed by an early, light but usually spicy dinner and then be done with the inane activity of eating. It was soon time for Lady Karelia and Little One to leave for home. After calling the boys back from Planet Bionicle, they said their good-byes, arranged to meet up next Monday, and Lady Karelia and her son went on their way home. They walked fast, that is the lady was walking fast, whilst nobody noticed that Little One was gliding a few inches above ground with the help of his mother. The weather had turned even colder and both wanted to get back to the warmth of their home.
Both arrived home frozen thoroughly. Lady Karelia’s daughter Sara greeted them lovingly and offered to make some Yogi Tea for her mother to warm up, which she gratefully accepted. Shortly after, Sara left for town, to meet up with her friend for coffee at the local bookstore. Both were expected to be home in time for their favourite TV programme, “Charmed”, in which even Lady Karelia indulged occasionally, she does not normally engage in TV watching, aware of the TV being a tool for manipulation and mind-control, thus used mainly to spread lies to the Mere Mortals. Lady Karelia spent the next few hours with typical household tasks, she prepared a meal for her Beloved, made sure there were sufficient amounts of olives and feta cheese in the fridge, which her Beloved favoured over the less healthy foods. Little One watched his mother doing the cooking carefully and intensely, both his parents were very good at creating meals and he wants to follow in his dad’s footsteps of being the best cook in the family. Once those tasks were taken care of, she sat down in front of the computer, whilst Little One indulged in an electronic game. It was a form of relaxation for her, to read e-mails, write in her journal and occasionally treat herself to a game of Word Mojo, an activity she expected to cease once she acquired her Apple Mac, since the Mere Mortals of Yahoo Games do not support the format of Mac.
And here, dear reader, we shall conclude this day. It is the lady’s turn of being the first to fiercely hug and kiss her Beloved when he returns from work, provided Little One is not too cheeky, but alas, he does have a tendency to be cheeky, so she will have to sit in the kitchen and humour her need to complete the sewing of the cloak hood and be the first one to hear the door open. The evening, it being a Thursday, is likely to be predictable: Hugs all around in abundance, then the parents will humour the children by watching “Charmed” together, followed by Little One being taken to bed by his Dad, who is better at story reading than his mom, who by that time needs a break from any children-involving activities and tends to indulge in some internet reading, the subject of which is entirely unpredictable. It ranges from inane Harry Potter fan fiction to the British Medical Journal and nearly everything between in. Then it will be time for the lady to retire, ready to face another day of adventure, which may be reported upon in the future.

Ah, now you wonder what the anticipation in the subject line means. 5 days to go. That's what it means. 5 days until I see Phantom of the Opera again. Yeah!
