The Thermal Baths were blissfully empty today, yay! The steam rooms managed to stop my sneezing fits. I wonder if I should temporarily move into them until the weather turns. It feels seriously nice not to sneeze every few minutes and to have itch-free eyes.

Then, there were quite a few shops open today. Today! Blimey! This is Germany, ya know. They don't have open shops on Sundays. Although they've improved no end since I last lived here. Ten years ago, it was still all shops close around 5.30 or 6.30, and on a Saturday, at 2pm, unless it was the first Saturday of the month when they stayed open till 6pm or something like that. Now, at least, most of them are open till 8pm, and thanks to the World Cup, a lot of them remain open till 10pm. Amazing, that.

The exchange fic now stands at nearly 9k, and I'm working hard on winding things up to get it finished before the deadline. Then it'll be back to Tracero during the day, and Without Magic in the evenings, or somewhere thereabouts. I have written about 1200 words today, what an accomplishment.

Oh, I'm still sneering at all the fanatics, worry not. And I still think the final score is 394:0, that is Quidditch vs. Soccer. *smirk* But as much as I dislike doing it, I just felt compelled to find something nice about the World Cup. And it wasn't difficult, either, lol.
Thank you for wanting to read my xch fic! I'm looking forward to reading yours, too! I hope it has a happy ending. ;-) I feel like I'm in a marathon; blimey, I've never before written to the point where my fingers get crampy. But boy, what an experience!
I blame it all on NSS, of course. I sent her the first 7k words and she wrote back saying she could imagine another 7k words to go with it...

Yeah. Happy. It isn't? ?? ???
I'd love to get an icon made up that way. *Sigh* Once I finished that darn story, I'll book an hour reading the manual for Fireworks, maybe I'll manage to figure out how to do a pic in stages/frames/whatever_it's_called...
I don't know any icon gods/goddesses well enough to bluntly ask, and I don't do subtle, so....
Oh yes, NSS. You know, she stands there, cracking the whip while she watches me write. And every time I omit a comma or put one in where it doesn't belong, she takes out that red ink pot *shudder*. She's improved my English no end and is a never ending source of inspiration. I love her so much, I've even shared the password for my chocolate stores with her. She's one brilliant headmistress; scary, but brilliant. :-)

I'l ask [livejournal.com profile] deemichelle and see if she's up to doing any icons for us. Don't know how busy she is these days, and do you have any preference to images, colours or so? She made this one up for [livejournal.com profile] subvers and me. *points to icon*

NSS: Nice quote there from HP "scary, but brilliant" *snerk* She must be something if you're sharing passwords! Impressed.

Benefits? I don't know. I had to work (Kaufland) on Saturday from 6pm to 10pm, and I have to say that I was bored to death after 8pm. My colleague was allowed to go home at 8.30pm because we had no customers, so I was the only cashier. My friend works at Leiser in Berlin's biggest shopping centre. She had to work on Sunday from 2pm to 8pm, they were so "busy" she could go home at 5pm. They girls actually did start fighting for the customers.
The two extra hours are definitely a financial loss for most shops. Well, perhaps the shops in the city had more to do because of the World Cup tourists, but these opening hours definitely make no sense here in the (south) outskirts.

Well, I could go on, but I'm too tired right now and I can't explain it in English; lack of needed vocabulary.
