Everyone in San Diego has been going to the movies to get away from the heat- I can't imagine how awful and stifling the theatre must have been packed with sweaty people and no AC. Good luck staying cool and hydrated!
I was pretty disappointed with Depp's creepy man-child in Charlie, too. DMC was also hard to watch at times (could the cannibals have been more offensive?), but I thought there were enough redeeming qualities (http://mundungus42.livejournal.com/37086.html) to make it worth the price of admission.
I third the scruffy Norrington appreciation, but only in the scenes when he's not splattered with pig dung (ew). A teaser trailer for PotCIII I saw at Comic-Con showed a shot of Norrington back in powdered/brushed wig, so perhaps he'll end up somewhere in the middle by the end of the franchise. Lovely long brown hair.. *sigh*
