Simply had to contact you when I spotted your BEAUTIFUL userpic on Subversa's page. And above I see more music stuff! I dream in music ... it's wonderful.
I am a lecturer and PhD student in the School of Music in University College Dublin (Ireland). And Karelia? Is that anything to do with Sibelius?
Sorry ... ranting now ... just dying to know why you love music so much, and what music do you like?
You know, I've had this LJ for nearly two years now, and you're the first one to know where my name is from. Yes, it is from Sibelius' Karelia Suite, my all time favourite piece of music.
As to why I love music, I live and breathe it, together with writing. :-) I played piano, nowadays it's limited to keyboard, and right now to the "musical keyboard" on GarageBand because our belongings are being shipped across continents.
It's so refreshing to meet someone else musical! Are you, by any chance, the author of the same name? :-)
Yes, little b, that's me! Didn't you correct one of my chapters?
As for the Karelia Suite, I love it too! Squee, squee and squee! Your userpics ROCK!!!
I was a flautist before I turned into a musicologist. Ralph Vaughan Williams is my PhD topic ... his concerti ... among them one for piano!
I'm so glad you friended me ... I'll friend you back when I get over to my journal. It's SOOO lovely to meet someone musical! My nine-year-old son is, at this very moment, playing the piano!
Oh, more squees! My 8 3/4 year old likes playing the guitar! I've heard a few of William's pieces and I liked them, but for some reason, I never really got into them. I must make a point to listen to his stuff.
Yes, I did, LOL. Not the latest one, I think it was the one before that. :-)
