Like a lot of Harry Potter fans, I'm so looking forward to tomorrow night when I'll hold Teh Book in my little hands that I'm feeling nervous and want the time to fly rather than crawl. So I've been keeping myself busy with lots of cleaning, working some more on the Snape Overture; only... writing isn't on right now. I can't concentrate on writing except for my original work, which has made some unexpected progress lately.
The leak? I'm still convinced it's a hoax. Let's look at it from a security point of view: The news recently was the obscene amount of money spent on ensuring the book wouldn't leak. Yes, I can well believe that. What I can't quite believe is that with such expenditure on security, the book would leak to the internets. And what would be a seriously awesome form of security, one that doesn't just involve security guards whose pay is one of the worst and it would take millions of employees to spend some 20 million, even if they double the typical pay? To have several versions intentionally leaked to the internets, pretending to sue all and sundry because of it, tip off the New York Times, even encourage them to review the book before its publication, because then the majority will believe it's a genuine leak. How much does it cost to print a few hundred books and have them sent intentionally to random people who've ordered The Book? But we'll see in little over 27 hours, probably less, since JKR's midnight reading will be broadcast live on the web. And I really won't be surprised if she starts her speech with something along the lines of, "Fooled you all, didn't I?" with a smug grin on her face. And if I'm wrong, and the "carpet leak" is the real deal, I'll post pictures of me eating steak, as I said on a few occasions.
In other news, Little Man finished reading Order of the Phoenix in 8 days flat. W00t!
