LJ downtime

Now that the abomination that is livejournal these days has returned, I can actually post. And in the meantime, I've forgotten all about what I was going to post. *snerk*
I have until December before renewing the paid account, and I'm seriously wanting out of here. The only thing that keeps me right here is fandom, but I can see it diminishing further and further, seeing how the holier-than-though sixapart are hypocritical in purging communities. They say one thing, then do something else entirely. I find that rather off-pissing.
I know there is greatestjournal and insanejournal, but I just don't find them so enticing. And myspace? Oh, forget about it. Not interested in pr0n, and that seems to be all you get over there.
Any chance the fandom can get together, unite like the Houses of Hogwarts never did, and buy out LJ?

Date: 2007-07-26 04:46 am (UTC)I'm sticking to it, too. For now. Am looking at alternatives, though. I don't like the idea of being censored.

Date: 2007-07-25 06:44 am (UTC)But LJ getting worse is the main reason why I didn't buy a permanent account, (7 years on LJ, I'm not sure at all!!!) but I also know I did renew my paid account two months earlier because the Dollar has been so weak that I saved a few euros!!

Date: 2007-07-25 11:16 am (UTC)I cannot abide by myspace. it is designed to repel people over 40. I can't read it and it is way nto noisy in terms of audibles and visuals. Most of the posters know zilch on human factors engineering- e.g. white text on whot backgrounds.

Date: 2007-07-26 04:49 am (UTC)I, too, don't like myspace. And I thought the same as you - it repels people over 40. But I know enough youngsters who hate it, too.

Date: 2007-07-25 11:30 am (UTC)I have had my LJ for almost 3 years now and I doubt I will ever leave. I do have a Greatest Journal but all of my peeps are here.....and I don't know about fandom diminishing to the point it is no longer here....I think it will shrink at some point but in the next year if anything it might grow a bit and then even out for a while.

Date: 2007-07-25 02:58 pm (UTC)Hmm, I have about £5 I can donate the the good idea that is fandom buying out LJ. LOL.
I can go without the Diet Coke I was going to go buy later on. :)
Apparently it was a 'power outage' that caused the problem... but have they never heard of backup supplies? Makes me think there was more to it.
(Oh, btw - laptop decided to turn itself off last night and I got narked at it so went to bed. I wasn't just ignoring you >.<'')

No worries. :-) I was writing and hardly noticed, sorry!
