Oh thank you thank you! This is lovely. It makes me smile. OMG! I just adore this conductor! He's a gem! I know nothing of the hows or whys of all this music. But it is so crystal clear how much he loves this.

It's the love that's important. Skill alone will give you a good conductor, but add love to it, and you'll get that wonderful performance that will go down in history. :) It's his playfulness, I think, that makes it so endearing. He is so very obviously having great fun, he is one with the music.

That said, I'd lllllurve to see the Magic Flute at the Met. I've seen it, oh, about 15 times or so, lol, from province theatres to the Salzburg Puppet Theatre to the Royal Opera in London, but never at the Met...
