... is what I am in just about everything.

I'm behind in answering reviews. So fucking late I'm dreading the day I have time to answer because people will say, "WTF? Where did that come from?"

Behind, sort of, in the queue. Because at some stage I felt burnt out and couldn't make sense of sentences, so I figured it was better to simply give up and let others do the admin stuff.

Behind in packing. We're moving in just over two weeks. I've not even started yet. Have a few boxes, but that nowhere near covers the needs for boxes. Yes, yes, the move is only local, and we have this place until the end of October, but, srsly, once I'm out of here, I really have no interest in returning.

I'm whining now, but alas, you've read this far... or not. Dorkboy is leaving for California on Sunday. I am happy in the way that he's really, srsly moved up in the company, but I'm not happy that he's having to travel again, and long-term to boot. I can take California only in small doses and can hope that the earthquakes will only affect me if they're big. Otherwise I'm toast.

Yes to Azkatraz. I will register by about November I think.

And I think I need sleep now.

There are few better justifications for whining than moving house. Stress...hassle...exhaustion... Rented crates are good (and can be used as temporary furniture until the blighters collect them) but each time I say I'll never, ever do it again.

Hm... I wonder if they have those here. Must check. I remember them from the UK, but I've never seen anything like that advertised over here!

Each time I've said I'll never move again, we moved within a year or two. So... I'm not gonna say it this time! LOL

Garfield has some cookies for you... small consolation, I know, but perhaps the sugar will send you into packing frenzy. (But not until Monday, of course - screw the queue and enjoy your time with Dorkboy before he leaves.) Hey, I like the sounds of "screw the queue" - very poetic. *snrt*

Oh, I love the sound of screwing the queue! Thanks for that! *giggles*

Oh goodness. The fic is... coming. Slowly. I have a lot of conversations and short scenes that need to be linked. Lots of things to flesh out. I'm trying to organize what I have right now to go from there.

California is nothing to worry about. In the 23 years I lived there, only one earthquake caused the slightest bit of inconvenience. I'll take that over snow storms and hurricanes any time, except for the cost of living, ouch!

Ah, but that is if you don't get headaches before them... I'd love a snowstorm, to be honest. It would stop that infernal heat over here. LOL.

Yeah. The cost of living sux big-time in CA. I'm glad DB gets most of his expenses reimbursed...

packing and moving are the worst!

you have my heartfelt empathy. just take it in small doses, and somehow everything that needs to get done will get done. and maybe some things that aren't strictly necessary might fall by the wayside. if that happens, try to be okay with it. at least, that's my philosophy.

Aw, thanks! Yes, that's what I'm doing, and thankfully, the other admins are being sympathetic. And, wow, the queue has stayed below 30 today!

Yeah, I don't exactly stress myself out over not doing stuff. As long as I can write and music, I'm essentially happy. :)

You're moving in two weeks as well? We think the queue's behind now.... So am I. (October 5th)

Earthquakes happen rarely in CA. I've lived in SoCal now for 16 years. Been through one big one, a couple small ones. Really, they're better than tornadoes. (I grew up with those; believe me.)

Hope you're getting a nicer place!

Wish my husband would go away long-term. *grumble* At least yours will be missed though.

*points at icon* Remember what happened when we willed that one away? Go for it. :)

Oh, yeah, we'll miss mine. I'll have to make my own breakfast! *wails* I'm spoiled rotten, I know. On the other hand, it's one meal fewer to cook in the evenings. Not that I'll ahve much time for cooking; there'll be the run to and from the self-defense centre. Argh. Don't even want to think about that.

Yes, I remember how successful willing that one away was. I'm afraid "willing" that one away might constitute bartering with the wrong side, however, so am leery of it. (I have another journal, btw, where I am posting much of what it going on.)

Yeah. 28th. I can't wait to get it over with, really. But I'm glad we didn't manage to move when we wanted to; it would have been way too hot, and I just don't tolerate heat very well.

No, earthquakes happen every day in CA. Big ones happen rarely. I live a good 200 miles from the New Madrid faultline, and I feel them from around 2.5. I don't want to think what my head would feel like in CA. Honestly.

I hear you on tornadoes, yup! We experienced our first one earlier this year, and it wasn't an experience I want repeated, really. Not even for being able to write a believable tornado scene... LOL

Oh, I forgot about your headaches. That's right. Then you probably wouldn't have enjoyed the last earthquake we had where my bed was swaying like a ship (with me and the kids on it). I mean, I thought it was fun. But if things like that gave me headaches, I'd hate them as much as I hate the Santa Ana Winds around here (severe allergies to whatever gets blown around).

Tornadoes. You know, for that, I'm glad I don't live in Wisconsin anymore. I do miss a really good thunder storm. I always loved those. But tornadoes. I saw one once, a really picturesque one, about a mile from my house. (Luckily it was moving in a left to right direction.) It was scary and awesome (as in producing awe) at the same time.

Ugh to moving.... somehow everything seems to multiply when you go from living normally to wanting to box things up!

{{hugs}}

And yay to you registering for Azkatraz! ;p look forward to seeing you there :D
