I have a mega to-do list for tomorrow...

- ask for extension on LMHG exchange fic
- buy groceries
- considering two families are coming for dinner Sat, need to buy disposable plates and cutlery
- make up mind what to marry Indian food with (one loves Indian food and asked for it; other one hates Indian food and asked not for it; rest is okay with whatever, especially cheese.)
- visit non-corporate garden center for some more heirloom tomatoes. Home Depot were great by offering Ozarks specific heirlooms, but really, I can haz local-specific heirlooms that don't die at the first hit of 100F? Did buy two heatwave hybrids that are supposed to do really well in hot weather, though, because I'm hell-bent on having tomatoes this season.
- go to post office. Yes, finally. I have three packages to go out. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone, although I fear that hope is futile...
- clean kitchen floor. I sort of had half a hope for the pressing-the-manchego-pot to kinda fall *grins shamelessly at Ari*, but alas, it didn't happen. The pot is behaving absolutely fine, which leaves me with the clean-the-kitchen-floor task tomorrow.
- Figure out how to cope with unwanted wife if she turns up. It's one thing to be pissed at your husband, but an entirely different issue if you turn up at a so-called friend's place only to be rude. *hmph*
- answer some more LJ comments
- do queue, although I won't promise

Vegetarian or non? Something like murgh tikka/chicken kebabs would bridge the gap, if you knocked out the cayenne:

500ml/18 fl oz/2¼ cups thick, Greek-style (whole milk) yoghurt
175ml/6 fl oz/¾ cup single (light) cream
4 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2½ teaspoons sweet chilli powder/paprika
2.5 cm/1 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated to a pulp
2 garlic cloves, crushed to a pulp
1 teaspoon cardamom seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon black peppercorns
¼ nutmeg
5 cm/2 inch cinnamon stick
7-8 cloves
1 kg/2¼ lb boned, skinned chicken, cut into 2.5 cm/1 inch cubes
2 tablespoons white vinegar 2-3 tablespoons ghee, melted unsalted butter or vegetable oil

Place a strainer in the sink and line it with cheesecloth. Empty the yoghurt into it and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Put the drained yoghurt into a large bowl. Add the cream, 2 teaspoons of the salt, cayenne pepper, chilli powder, ginger and garlic. Mix. This is the marinade.

Put the cardamom, cumin, peppercorns, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves into the container of a clean coffee grinder and grind to a fine powder. Add to the marinade. Beat well with a whisk.

Rub the chicken pieces with a solution of the remaining 2 teaspoons salt and the vinegar. Let them sit for 5 minutes. Pat them dry with kitchen paper. Drop the chicken pieces into the marinade. Marinate for 2 hours or even overnight.

Pre-heat the grill/broiler). Lift the chicken pieces out of the marinade and divide them equally between 4 skewers. Brush with the ghee or the butter or oil. Grill about 10-13 cm (4-5 inches) from the source of heat for 3-4 minutes on one side until lightly browned. Turn over and grill for another 3-4 minutes or until the chicken is browned and cooked through. Remove from the skewers and place on a serving plate. Serve with the lime or lemon wedges.

Thank you for the recipe! I have chicken tikka on the list of potentials, as well as vegetable biryani. That should hopefully satisfy the pro-Indian food crowd, lol.

Pasta and Indian food, hm. I can't somehow imagine them to go well together, lol. I like the veggie casserole idea, though. And salads are always a must. As is cheese. Surprising, eh? The manchego is being pressed right now, and there'll be feta. And I think crudites is an excellent idea, thank you!

Well, didn't think the pasta dish would go with Indian but figured those that didn't want Indian wouldn't be concerned if they went together LOL

Glad I could help though *hugs*

That's not mentioned because it's a completely auto-pilot action: Get in car, drive to nearest Starbucks, follow to-do list. *nods*

I'm with those who suggested some type of pasta. Something simple, maybe, like angel hair with pesto. And maybe some veggies stirred in for good measure? I have no idea. :/

We're trying to grow tomatoes! We are having no luck so far. The plants looked so great for the first three weeks! Now, they all look like crap. ::glares at black thumb::

Good luck with all that's on your list, you busy woman!

I love your icon! LOL

Last year, my tomatoes all died in the second week of July when it got freaking hot, but that was on a south-facing patio. Now, we have an east-facing balcony, so I'm having hopes that the sun won't do too much damage. Also, knowing it might happen will prepare me from taking them inside if the weather forecast is for 100F. But still, it's a challenge. I haven't decided yet what to grow next in the AeroGarden, but I'm very tempted with the herb kits, so I might grow those and then tomatoes again. We'll see. :D
