But first, a link to a few writers' jokes, some quite funny, actually, followed by some very good writing advice, which even Miss Snark recommends on her own blog.
Yes, thank you, it's been a good day. I was requested to neither socialise nor go hunting for birthday presents I couldn't give a rat's arse about, so naturally it was bound to be good. Add to that warm but not hot weather, and for once dry and sunny and not humid, and the fact I found alfalfa sprouts, what more can I ask. Well, lots, but I'm content. :-)
And we're having fun tonight. Dorkboy insisted he'd provide the nightly music. I suspect he was getting thoroughly fed up with my list of opera pieces, Grieg, Beethoven, Rosenberg Trio et all. So, knowing I would have heavily objected to his usualquestionable Pak. choice (guys, I'm tolerant where music is concerned. But not that tolerant.), he decided to go the iTunes route and download stuff he knew we would both agree on. Boy, it has seriously re-opened my horizons. Can you believe it, I have not listened to any Tracy Chapman in years, I'm ashamed to say. But rest assured, I'll make up for it now. We're also agreeing on some Il Divo, which I'm sure,
charmed310 and
hogwartshoney highly approve of *smirk*. And then there is a whole lot of Pavarotti and Friends. I stopped liking Pavarotti when I spent an evening listening to Jose Carreras in an Open Air concert in Tel Aviv in 1986. That man is incredible. He appeared on stage, and I forgot everything around me. Beside the better voice, he's also much better looking than Parvarotti. But yeah, Pavarotti has his uses. Like mingling with rock stars. I've been thoroughly enjoying Dorkboy's dj'ing.

Date: 2006-07-15 09:25 pm (UTC)Glad your weekend is fun.
P.s. I have people shaking their heads at me when I say that I like classic and punk. lol

Date: 2006-07-15 09:36 pm (UTC)Classic and punk. I totally understand that! I don't talk to many people in RL, but when I do and get questioned about my musical taste, I tend to say it's eclectic. I could instead say, I guess, I like a lot of classic, quite a lot of jazz, quite a bit of rock and pop and blues, a wee bit punk, R'n'B, and even the occasional rap, but I'm afraid that would permanently confuse people... Especially if I add that I love fusion, the stuff that's between genres. Which brings me back to Pavarotti. Okay, I stop now, lol.

I kind of like some of anything except for German folk music *shudders*

Date: 2006-07-15 10:13 pm (UTC)For me it's usually music before I even bother with the lyrics, but I've found some brilliant lyrics that way...
And ja, I'm totally with you on the German folk music! I mean, Heino's bad enough, but does he have to have a following????

Date: 2006-07-15 09:52 pm (UTC)I'm not a fan of classic, but I do like Carreras too. My classic music is movie scores. LOL! And I love Jazz and Swing. I have some weak spots here and there, so I think I sometimes listen to a rather weird variety of music. LOL!
Okay, I can't keep my eyes open any longer. Goodnight!

Date: 2006-07-15 10:18 pm (UTC)Ya know, getting classical music from movie scores is perfectly okay, there are so many good ones around! I also think the term "weird" is entirely subjective. :-) If you like it, then it's okay, no matter what mix it is.
