I lurves the cold
Mar. 8th, 2009 03:16 amFollow-up from last Saturday when snow was abundant...
The snow stayed Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Then, Wednesday, we were able to walk down the wooden stairs without being afraid we'd slip and break limbs. Thursday, the temps rose to 70. Today was 75. This constant yo-yoing is driving my body nuts. It's not used to it. One day it's 30s, the next day 60s. Wtf? Ushuaia sounds ever so attractive... 40s to 50s throughout the year and lots of rain. Beach nearby, too! Wow.

Mar. 7th, 2009 02:09 amLucius has taken over my taste buds. I'm just relieved he isn't in favour of meat. But srsly. Mozart? Wtf? Not The Magic Flute either, I could happily oblige, but no, it has to be the Requiem. I've never liked the Requiem! *pouts petulantly* I've coped with excessive earfuls of Sibelius, I've coped with purely pentatonic-scaled tango fusion, all upon his insistence, but Mozart's Requiem? *whines* Even listening to all four versions of Beethoven's 9th didn't convince Lucius otherwise. *glares daggers*
Fuck. It's growing on me. *glares some more* Not that the glaring helps. All he does is laugh at me. I'm behind with everything. Queue, betas, regular writing. And he laughs. *deep sigh*
That is all.

Feb. 28th, 2009 03:48 pmDefinitely to be filed under WTF...
Yesterday, the high was about 64 degrees. When I went in the shower an hour ago, it was raining, but snow was starting to mix in with the rain. When I came out of the shower and looked out the window, I was somewhat shocked by this picture:

Nearly two inches and still snowing like whoa.

Feb. 19th, 2009 02:36 amThere are three grocery stores in our area, one within walking distance, although I wouldn't dream of walking there because drivers are utterly nuts around here, another two miles away, the last of the same brand as the first about 3 miles away. Since we moved here, we've always gone to the one within walking distance and occasionally the other, which has Chilean Artisan Cheese and better quality produce. Today, having gone to the gourmet store a few miles away, I figured I'd try the other Kroeger, since it was on the right side coming back and would save me at least 10 minutes of waiting at the traffic light. O.o. Flagship store. Best. Ever. About 60 types of cheese. A sushi bar with an on-site chef who prepares everything to your specification, including veggie sushi. An international isle that was big enough to differentiate between German, British, Polish, French, Carribean, Indian, Kosher, Japanese, Thai... Okay, my cupboards are stocked again.
I spent two days eating leftovers, gladly, too, but I sure love the way the fridge looks now. There are 9 different types of cheese, including the Very Underaged Manchego, which I'm itching to try, but I know if I do, there won't be any left for Aging. Hmph.
In other news, the temp was 75 degrees at 3pm, and by 10pm it had gone down to 42. I'm sooooo not impressed. I suppose it's positive that there haven't been any tornadoes.
In writing, I'm trying to divide my time between Lucius and Rowena. It's not an easy task, as queue comes in at all hours. I thought it would be feasible to write Rowena before 6pm and Lucius after, but that's just not viable. By 6pm I might be lucky to be done with beta/RL stuff, or queue, and then Lucius tends to call, and if I don't listen, he gets antsy. Maybe I should differentiate the two by days? Days that have a y in them will be Lucius's and the rest Rowena's? No, not quite working, thanks, Lucius. *snerk*

Squeefest Day 2 Evening and Day 3
Feb. 16th, 2009 01:45 amThe day continued with shopping, mostly to bedbathandbeyond and then ( Good. Food. )
We all went to the chat last night and Imperioed a lot of chatters to drabble.
organic_chemist as usual did a splendid job of listing all the drabbles, which you can read here.
( More. Good. Food. )
Then, there was a near-tearful good-bye to SW69 and Vox, and I won't think about tomorrow for now.

Squeefest Memphis, Day 2
Feb. 14th, 2009 04:06 pmThere was shopping all over town. We bought Lushious things, and we all smell very good now. We created Imperius and Felix Felicis. Well,
blue_paris created them, and we tasted them.
( Dorkboy cooked us a most amazing Indian meal, with a little help from our friends )
More later.

Squeefest Memphis '09 - The First
Feb. 13th, 2009 01:11 amThere has been the devouring of considerably underaged cheese, hilarity, quoting of dirty bible verses, giggles, ingestion of chicken (only by some), broccoli, stuffed courgettes and mushrooms, laughter, imbibing (let's not go into detail), and more laughter.
( picspam )
No doubt more spam tomorrow, especially once
southernwitch69 joins us. All in all, it's been a most squeelicious day. :D

Time to Squee Again
Feb. 11th, 2009 08:25 pm( Squee )
( More Squeelicious News )
I'm done cleaning, which was a chore because it's been stormy, and the wind blew a lot of ash around the fireplace, but it's done now, and it's all calm outside, so there's hope the place will stay clean.

It's Sunday Already?
Feb. 8th, 2009 06:51 pmBefore I forget, Dallas has been postponed. Not cancelled, but postponed. We figure maybe March, but I'll post once I know more.
In more important news, last night's Truth or Dare turned out fantastic. Ten people wrote drabbles and short fics! The lovely
organic_chemist has compiled a list of who prompted whom together with links to the various fics here.
I was prompted by Hermione Weasley (again!), but at least there was no mention of essence. Aren't I lucky? She wanted to know how the founders came up with a name for the school, so I wrote The Founders' Dilemma because, really, a simple naming with a name everyone agreed on just isn't likely, is it? ;) However, the story doesn't stop here.
writermerrin showed a very glorious, evil side and fed a teensy, tiny plot bunny that was nabbing at my feet. It now has grown to thus far unknown dimensions. I will have to refrain from looking at the queue or beta jobs until I'm done writing it. Really, it's grown huge. Her reasoning was that there aren't enough Founders' fics around. *snrt* So, now Lucius has walked off in a huff, visiting friends (beware, writers! He does have a tendency to turn up rather unexpectedly!) while I'm claiming a need for girls' time with Rowena.
In most important news, Squeefest Memphis is approaching fast. OMG! *squeeeeeeee* I made lemon curd; it came out beautiful and very tasty. The manchego is slowly aging at ten degrees lower than it's supposed to, but that doesn't affect the taste so far. The feta is aging in the brine, and another batch of paneer is hanging over the sink.
Does anyone know if using street chalk on a public road is an offense? Or will we get away with it?
